Even though I voted for David Cook because I liked his style of singing better I think both Davids will go a long way and be successful.

40 Million Viewers Tuned in to Last Five Minutes of American Idol

 M. Caulfield/American Idol 2008  More than 40 million people tuned into to watch the results of the David vs. David battle on American Idol Wednesday night. The rest of the two-hour show saw an audience of 31.6 million. (This year's finale also beat 2007's Jordin Sparks vs. Blake Lewis showdown, which 30 million turned in to watch.) In a surprise victory, rocker David Cook beat baby-faced David Archuleta for the title — despite Simon Cowell predicting it would go the other way. But Archuleta told Usmagazine.com after the show that he "was pretty sure Cook was going to win anyway!" "You know, he's such a great guy," Archuleta, 17, added. "I'm so glad that people really appreciate what he'd been doing because he put a lot of work into this." After Wednesday night's teary announcement that Cook had won (watch the video here), the Missouri native was at a loss for words. "This is amazing — thank you!" he said. Um...who cares. I mean we all know how the AI pattern works. based on diminishing Idol hype the "winner" will seel lots of copies of his debut album, despite not having any memorable songs whatsoever. Once the show itself has moved on to it's "next big thing" (snicker) and record sales taper off, the "winner" will be dropped like it was nothing. Hey Ruben Studdard, how are you doing? :-)

Kim J must not have had good reception at that camping site.... George Michael was amazing. What a talent! He did not need a whold bunch of stage fluff to make his performace breath taking. Just him and a spotlight - He moved me with "Praying for Time" which by the way is a oldie from the 90s. (Idol announced that it was a new song.) George Michael still rocks even with all the wear and tear he has been through over the years!

It's great that Idol had 40 million viewers tune into the last five minutes of American Idol, compared to 30 million that tuned in for the Idol finale last year, etc.

I loved this years american idol, unfortunatly we were in a remote camping location and I didn't get to see Wed and Thurs I found a tv the last half hour of the final show. I thought george michael was BORING, I was very disappointed in that choice of a superstar. I honestly was happy on whoever won. They both are awesome talents! At least there wasn't a Sanjaya this year...... American Idol is very adicting. Even though Simon can be a butt-head he is usually dead on. Can't wait till next year...

First of all, David A. does NOT sound like Josh Groban--BIG difference if you have even ever listened to Josh Groban. . .and how can there be too many of them when there is only one that I know of. . .who by the way, had the biggest album of last year, so some people obviously like him. . . I was happy David C. won, but would have been fine if David A. would have won. I personally wouldn't buy a CD from David A, as he is just not my style. I would definitely from David C. Both of them however, were very pleasant during the whole competition, seemed liked very nice guys, and truly seemed grateful and humble for what they had received and accomplished. I think each one thought the other would win. We haven't seen that kind of sincerity in quite a while. The year Taylor Hicks won, he was pretty confident that he was going to. . .and where is he now??

Yay! Congrats to BOTH Davids! I am so glad David Cook won, his voice has had more time to mature, and he is outstanding- would definitely buy one of his albums. I think younger David will keep getting better and better as he gets older- he has a fabulous voice too. David Cook seems like such a down to earth, kind individual, I wish him much, much success. Last nights Idol finale was fun to watch, I think they all did a great job. It was a little annoying that Paula wouldn't sit down, but at least she was having fun! It was very awesome that Simon actually apologized to Cook too- way to go Simon.
