The show must go on!
Brooke White did the unthinkable on last night's American Idol — stopped her song, and started again.
"I'm sorry," she said, gesturing for the band to restart Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita ballad, "You Must Love Me."
After performing, a nearly speechless Paula Abdul sputtered: "You must never start and stop!"
Judge Simon Cowell, though, admitted he, "would have done exactly what she did if [he'd] forgotten the words.
"It was a very brave thing to do," he added, but still called her performance, "quite uncomfortable."
White, 24, told Ryan Seacrest, "I lost the lyric. It's never happened to me before on this show."
But the Arizona native has also stopped and started on the piano one other time this season.
Tells Us: Will Brooke be voted off after her mistake?

Brooke definitely should have gone home. Her vocal range isn't half of what Syesha's is and her constant crying is sickening. The only time she is half way good at all is when she is sitting at a piano. Then she doesn't have to show her extreme uncoordination.

BROOKE WHITE NEEDS to GO HOME!!! We can't stand her sickening facial expressions and comments any longer. Besides, her "singing" falls so short compared to the others. She simply doesn't belong up there. Jason Castro is adorable!

I remember my first summer at Twin Oaks Day Camp I had to perform a skit onstage & I fell down, so I sympathize with what Brooke went through on Idol last night, 4/23!

She's never done it before? She did it a few weeks ago when she was playing the piano! She's a flippin liar or she really is a 40 year old nanny that is starting to forget...goes with the trend with her anyways, she forgets and lies that this was her first time doing that, and she forgets to remember her lyrics. She's a weak performer. She can't sing. It's time for blubbering Brooke to go home tonight. She brings nothing to the competition. Go home Whiney Brooke, just go home. I think it was good for her to start over. Brooke has been my favorite from the start. Just because she isn't perfect doesn't mean she should get voted off. Brooke seems to have the best personality, she's so kind. I would love to buy her CD.

At this stage of the game, the wheat is being separated from the chaff, and Brooke will most likely be going soon. She is an intensely, profoundly deep musician, and will find an audience within her genre, but she is not the well-rounded American Idol type. At this point, I think only the two Davids have the right stuff.

Her performance was indeed painful to watch- in fact I haven't enjoyed any of them. Its upsetting that she is still on (and may survive to the next round) and Michael Johns is gone. Votes should be based on talent and not b/c u feel sorry for someone or u think they're cute. If we continue to vote on talent- David Cook will win, but too many of you are captivated by the hokey nonsense of David A and the ah shucks demeanor of Jason. David C shows amazing range and talent- last nights performance solidified that. Hopefully the voters will be smart and he will win top prize.

See Ya Brooke!! It's about time everyone realizes that she is not talented and is a big phony. I can't believe she had the nerve to say she's never done that before, yes she did! She started and stopped another time. I hope she goes tonight, she should have been gone long ago IMO.

no, even tho Brooke had a really bad night and her nerves are shot i believe it will be Jason to go home. ppl will vote to keep her in just like last week cause they know how bad she needed it. i felt uncomfortable for her just like Simon and she's one of my fav's. don't worry all you ppl who don't like her she won't break the top 3 but i'd still buy her cd or download her songs and think she'll do great after the show.

I was horribly sad for Brooke - she has a certain purity and sweetness about her, and I'm sad that she'll likely be the one going tonight... :( Too bad I live in Canada, or I'd have been voting incessantly as long as the lines were open...

Not sure if she should be eliminated tonight or not. Everyone makes mistakes and she should be judged by her past performances and not because she stopped and started over again, but even the best of them have been voted off the show so I would have to say that she will probably be voted off tonight. Its so sad, she is actually pretty good.

Yeah, I hate to say it but she's gonna be a goner tonight. She's been my favorite girl all along so I'm sad for her. I wish she had done better last night. Andrew Lloyd Webber had been quoted as saying "she was the one to watch." so that's truly dissapointing : (
