American Idol to contestant David Archuleta's dad: you're not welcome backstage!

Jeff Archuleta was told by show producers that he's banned from show rehearsals as well, according to reports in the Associated Press and TMZ.

The final straw was when Jeff reportedly insisted his 17-year-old son switch up the lyrics of "Stand by Me" to include a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," despite warnings from show producers not to do so.

Idol will now have to pay increased royalties for sampling the tune, TMZ says.

Even though Jeff has insisted to Usmagazine.com that he's "no stage dad," his overbearing presence has been a cause for concern, the AP says.

Neither Fox nor Jeff commented to the AP.

Archuleta is one of three remaining contestants with David Cook and Syesha Mercado. Watch a video of him forgetting his lyrics live on stage here.
