Jaws Actor Roy Scheider Dies

Actor Roy Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock, a spokesman confirmed to the AP. He was 75.

A cause of death was not revealed, but he had struggled with blood cancer for the past three years.

Scheider was best known for his role as a police chief in 1975’s Jaws. In the film, he uttered the famous line, “You’re gonna’ need a bigger boat,” which was voted No. 35 on the American Film Institute’s list of best U.S. movie quotes.

He was nominated for two Oscars: Best Supporting for 1971’s The French Connection and Best Actor for 1979’s All That Jazz.
