The skinny waifish models you see primarily in *women's* fashion magazines. There are many beautiful women in different sizes, shapes, and colors, and Whitney Thompson, Crystal Renn, Marilyn Monroe, Queen Latifah etc are among the loveliest ladies out there.

first of all whitney looks fabulous she represents real women . skinny women look like there bodys didn t developped skinny women looks like little girls .women should be proud of their curves .clothes looks so much better on curvy voluptuous women im a guy and i think that all guys whant curvy women their much sexier, than those chopstick runts.

I'm a fashion designer and I've seen plenty of size 0 models with curves. All the people calling size 0 models "skin and bones with no curves" are wrong and they just base their judgement on designers that choose ultra-skinny models for their clothes, or that use very flowy and draped garments on these models. It makes them look flatter and much thinner than they actually are.

I don't think its really about her weight. What is more important is the fact that she is actually not a good model at all. She hasn't landed any major gigs like she should have i.e. Lane Bryant or C.J. Banks. The only things she has done would be better left to the skinny girls. Something that bothers me is that I always felt she was very fake during the show. Her emotions were over the top and she acted too peppy and falsely happy.There is a place for everyone in modeling, she just needs to find hers.

whittney is beautiful and represents what the average woman actually looks like she will be an insperation to girls everywhere as far as size goes, as far as her attitude goes i think its just a front she had to put on because of being a curvy girl in the modleing industry and facing discrimination from everyone around her i doubt that she is really like that. size 10 in the real world is not plus size in the modeling world it is, at least in comparison to the other girls, the most amazing thing about whitney winning is that she is neither a regular sized model nor is she a plus sized model a regular model is between size 2 and 6 and a plus size model is between 12 and 14 but whitneys size represents more women in the world then either plus sized or normal models can. Look at Marilyn Monroe she was like a size 14 or something like that and is still considered one of the most beautiful women, most men like curvy women and not stick figure that feel like they will break if you hug them.

I am glad someone finally did something that might wake a few young women up. the comment from "Such a publicity stunt" shows how she/he is still blind to the way our society is tormenting women....Shame on you. How is it that only size matters and why do we always think we will be happy when we are skinny??? I was a skinny size 6 and even smaller at some points and I did, thank god, do it the healthy way. Was I happy then? NOPE. I still thought I was fat. And not to be conceited or anything but I am pretty but never really thought I was. I am now finally dealing with the real issues of body image and realizing that I NEED to be happy; and that really is all that matters because life is passing by while I obsess about my weight instead of enjoying my time. Be happy! A little active and enjoy healthier food choices....for your health and not your body.

And you don't have to be stuffing down cheeseburgers to be a plus sized model.Usually it has to deal with bone structure. BMI is NOT everything. Her weight may be high- but her fat-to-muscle measurement i would say is probably just right. Now- over-eating is NOT beautiful.Fat people have just as much as an eating disorder as anorexic ones.Shes GORGEOUS. And nit-picking her to say "shes ugly" is wrong. Just because she doesn't fit into a size 2- doesn't mean that she can't be just as much of a model as others.

And skinny girls are JUST AS beautiful as curvy ones. Anorexia is HORRIBLE. And people who do it ARE NOT HORRIBLE- but they are setting a bad example for those who aren't.

Why can't people just be satisfied with what the world is? Its not going to ALL change just because we demand something. People die from overeating. People die from under eating. Would you rather have this young woman dead from trying to be like the other slim-fitted models- or perfectly happy with the way she is?

I say she deserved to win. And NOT just because shes plus sized.

for 1. whitney is tall and there is NO WAY IN HELL she is a size 8-10. My best friend is 6 foot 1 a size ten and is still small and asked if shes a model all the time. First of all, Whitney is NOT overweight or fat. Second of all, I am also tired of people acting like people who are overweight are just lazy and eat to eat. People have all the sympathy in the world for anorexics and bulimecs, but can't understand that binge eating can also be a psychological disorder that is incredibly hard to control just like the previously mentioned illnesses. Not to mention there are worlds of other reasons a person could be overweight other than being "lazy". Some people are just not genetically predisposed to be skinny, others might have thyroid disease, PCOS, or a plethora of other maladies that make it INCREDIBLY difficult to lose weight. Who is anyone else to judge?
