I thought the whole point of the Academy Awards remembers those who have passed is that it is suppose to recognize everyone! in the entertainment industry who has passed away. They may say he was cut for editing, but everyone knows the only reason they didn't mention Brad was because of the circumstances surrounding his death and that he had become somewhat of a bad word in Hollywood. Like, do they expect people to believe that they had to cut down the show time of the Academy Awards and so they decided to cut that time from the obits!??? PLEASE!!!

Why was late actor Brad Renfro cut from the video tribute at Sunday’s Oscars?
“It was really an editing decision because we can’t fit everyone in,” a rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tells Usmagazine.com. “There was no specific reason.”
The montage featured footage of late actors, including Heath Ledger, who passed away a week after Renfro.
Renfro died of a heroin overdose in his L.A. home January 15.
The actor made his big film debut, opposite Susan Sarandon, in 1994’s The Client. His film credits include Sleepers, Apt Pupil and the acclaimed independent film Ghost World.

he will be remembered as a intelligent and beloved young actor from one generation to the next no matter how the oscars gonna treat him. by the way those hypocrites who cut brad from the video tribute nobody care what they are doing right now and their name with their so call art works gonna be forgotten in no time.
so cool guy, does he still play on the tall dating site ~~~ Tallmingle dot com ~~~ ???The last time I saw his profile is last monday, hope he does not leave.
thanks for your support hollywood it s not like our family has gone through enough but then you guys go and pull this s**t brad had some problems everybody hasa problems i mesan d**n heth ledger died of and overdose cause he was miusing his preciption medicine and i love my cousin and i wont let him go sown like that
Yes. It is absolutely AWFUL that he wasn't included... especially given that he passed so recently. He was a wonderful, accomplished actor and he deserved recognition and respect. He may have had some unfortunate incidents with drugs and the law, but the same goes for a great deal of Hollywood. Mistakes happen. It wasn't good behavior, but he definately deserved to be honoroed for his acting skills. I feel sad for his poor little boy.
Brad Renfro. F-ing BRAD RENFRO. A solid actor and he worked hard for it. He was in films with Academy actors and some of his work was critically acclaimed. Whether or not, the National Enquirer covered him daily eating ice-cream or picking his butt, Renfro was known internationally for his work. I find it hard that the 'Academy' could not fit him into the memorium. What F-ing ingrateful cods. You're probably going home and sniffing blow off your boyfriends ass. BRAD FRENFRO FOREVER.
Bam Bam, wind your neck in. Do not speak ill of the dead.
"why should they include him. he nothing but a drug user. all this guy did was get in trouble with the law."
Let's not show all the people who've done drugs in montages anymore. There'd be like 3 people per year in montages cause let's face it....everyone has at one point done drugs. Other than the client, brad has done some solid films: "sleeper" "apt pupil" "bully". They should have put him on the tribute. This is why i hate the oscars.
The Oscars forgot Brad and the others but they DID remember to honor NAZI PROPAGANDA FILMMAKER, and personal buddy of Adolf Hitler, LENI REIFENSTAHL when she died a couple of years back. This woman made the films that convinced the German people to hate the Jews and terrorize Europe. When she came to Hollywood after the war every director in town rightfully shut the door on her, except good ole Walt Disney (but that's another story). The Academy really doesn't put much thought into their show anymore. Hence the crap ratings.
What a**holes!
If you're going to pay tribute to some people in the entertainment industry, you should pay tribute to them all!!!
Lame excuse! Brad deserved to be remembered in the tribute!
That's crap for an excuse! They need to issue an apology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Brad!
You should of been part of that tribute!
We here at Jaundiced Eye Productions followed Brad's career from the very beginning. If ever there was a young actor treated like dirt by Hollywood, it was Brad. For his first movie, he was both the title character AND the poster boy, yet his name was not included in the advertising. At least 4 of Brad's co-stars, including his two co-stars from "The Client," Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon, have received Oscars, but all Hollywood ever gave to Brad was two "Young Actor" awards. Brad starred in big box office productions, and smaller indies such as "Bully." Brad always gave a great performance, no matter the size or budget of the film, but Hollywood always treated him like dirt. From the age of 10 to his death last month, Brad was exploited and used by Hollywood producers and studios with no regard for his health or safety. ("An 11-year old smoking throughout a feature film? Better lie about his age and hope we don't get busted.") When he died his latest film was already in post production, and he had an audition scheduled on the day he died (reminiscent of the death of Chris Pettiet, who also accidentally OD'd on the day of an audition. For those of Brad's fans who really want to vent their anger at the Motion Picture Academy and ABC for spitting on Brad's memory only a month after his death, the Jaundiced Eye Productions home page (Google us for the link) is now equipped with DIRECT links to the Motion Picture Academy comment service, and to KABC, whose news room hung up on our film reviewer when he reported that the Internet was exploding with anger within minutes of his deliberate omission from the memorial reel. Brad Renfro was three years younger than Heath Ledger, and he left a 4-year old son; does that little boy deserve to grow up knowing that the Academy spat on his father's memory only a month after his death?
tacky
YES! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDED IRREGARDLESS OF ANY DRUG USE ISSUES,PROBLEMS,ETC...
GOD BLESS AND MAY HE REST IN PEACE...
Hello people! Roy Schnieder died after the deadline of the tribute.
Brad deserved to be there!
The oscars suck! How disrespectful of them! I can't believe all this stuff going on! Make an apology already!
He should of been included!!!!!!!!
RIP Brad!!!!
You will be remembered by those who loved your work, even if the academy won't!!!!!!!!!
Comedian Richard Jeni, I agree, should also have been included just like Brad Renfro and Roy Sheider. If the Oscars are going to do it, they should try to do it right.
Passing judgement on one's death is not their job...honoring people who loved this business and contributed to it should be.
I think it's a sad statement that the person in charge of the Oscars could make such a horrible oversight in all cases...but especially if he knew Mr. Jeni and had worked with him on a recent Academy Awards. Disgraceful!
Comedian Richard Jeni also died in 2007. He too was excluded from the Oscar Montage and WAS a member of the Academy. The really ridiculous thing is that Gil Cates the Executive Producer of the Oscars attended Richard's private Memorial in Hollywood...and Richard Jeni wrote for the 77th Annual Academy Awards Show. Imagine how his family and loved ones feel.
Yes- He definitely should have been included. There were PLENTY of other parts of the show that could have been excluded to include Brad Renfro, Tom Poston and anyone else they cut out. I think most people would agree we could have done without the clips of 'binoculars' 'waking up from a bad dream', etc.
It was completely uncalled for to not recognize brad renfro. And to the person who said he didn't deserve to be because he was a drug user, I guess maybe we should omit everyone who has used drugs. In that case, the dedication would probably have lasted 15 seconds instead of 5 minutes. I hope the omision was a mistake and not intentional. It was a slap in the face to his family and loved ones.
I love him very much. I heard from my friends that he joined celebrities and wealthy club "Searching Millionaire COM". recently. I really expected that I can meet him there. If so, I could share my ideas with him.
I immediately recogized that Brad was not included in the tribute & it seems like a poor "editing decision" to me. You can't tell me that there was no time for a 5-10 second clip of him. Not to say that everyone doesn't deserve to be in the tribute that has passed, but come on.....I saw 2-3 agents in there!? How they have impacted audiences is very questionable if you ask the majority.
Well, Anna-Nicole Smith wasn't mentioned, either... though she died from an "accidental" overdose, as did Heath Ledger.
As for the poster who said:
"why should they include him. he nothing but a drug user. all this guy did was get in trouble with the law."
Um, probably 90% of celebrities get in trouble with the law at some point or another. Check out the Smoking Gun site's mugshot gallery.
See, under "icons" you have the likes of Frank Sinatra and Steve McQueen. Though they both died years ago, aren't they still revered by many? Granted, Brad Renfro is no Steve McQueen, but you shouldn't be so selective...
i think it was a terrible!!! it seems to me that made plenty of time to add heath ledger in ther clips. i'm not saying i wasnt a fan of heath ledger but, more of a fan of brad renfro. he was an amazing actor who deserved to be in that montage. i realize the way he did wasn't right but, how many hollywood actors have died of drug overdoses ( most recent heath ledger)who get honerd throught time. it's an absolute tragedy that we lost so many great actors in the past year and in general. i think they owe brad's family an apology of some kind. there wasn't enough time? MY ASS!!!
Shame on the Academy for not including Renfro and Tom Poston. Cut something else in the program down - these are lives we are talking about and they deserve tribute. Cut Amy Adam's performance down a few seconds, and we woulda been good to go!
If the award show can go on and on and on, why couldn't it go on for a couple more seconds with brad renfro's pic added to the tribute. editing, please.
3:50 totally agree
Oh this is silly, for all of you that keep saying that he hadn't made a movie in years please go check his filmogrpahy you ignorants. In fact if you check on yahoo movies, he made 6 more movies than Heath Ledger. Then, yeah he did die of an heroin overdose, he was a drug addict, but so was Ledger and plenty more of the people involved in the movie industry. Since the tribute is based on their contribution to the movie industry and NOT their personal life, well Brad should've been there, he participated in 22 movies, and had some major roles that will not be forgotten by those that are not here just blogging without even knowing, but that really believe it was disrespectful not including him in the montage, just as Mr. Ledger was (he also deserved it, he was an outstanding actor).
