Amy Winehouse left her house today in the same mood she's always in when she goes to visit imprisoned husband Blake Fielder-Civil: excited.

But her happiness soon turned to tears when she arrived at the prison in north London around 1pm.

"They didn't let her in because she was too late for visiting hours," a source tells Us. "She begged and pleaded with wardens at the prison but they weren't having any of it. The rules are the rules – if you're late then you're not going to get in. Visitors have to arrive before lunch is served. Clearly Amy didn't drag herself out of bed in time." (A prison spokesperson had no comment).

Winehouse, tired, emotional, and stressed-out, left the prison entrance looking close to tears. "This is f***ing s***," she muttered to herself.

The "Rehab" singer, 24, soon found solace at a nearby convenience store, where she purchased two lemon and lime popsicles in spite of the winter weather.

Winehouse had canceled her tour to support her husband, who is charged with conspiracy involving alleged witness tampering. They wed in May and were both arrested for marijuana possession in October. Over the weekend her mother wrote an open letter begging her to seek help.
