Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie Voight (Voight comes from her father, actor Jon Voight, whom she has been estranged from since 2002) was born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles. As a teenager, she dreamed of becoming a funeral director. Early in her career, she appeared in music videos for The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, Korn, and Meat Loaf. Angelina recently made world headlines by giving birth to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt — her first biological child and the daughter of boyfriend Brad Pitt. Despite being an Oscar-winner, Angelina’s acting career has been overshadowed by her high-profile relationships (with Pitt and with ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, specifically) and her philanthropic work as Goodwill Ambassador for the UN High Commissioner of Refugees.
Angelina has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Hackers co-star Jonny Lee Miller (March 1996-February 1999) and was soon followed by another to her Pushing Tin co-star Billy Bob Thornton (May 2000-May 2003). She has been linked romantically to Colin Farrell and Timothy Hutton. Her current relationship with Brad Pitt allegedly began on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. She has three adopted children — son Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt born in 2002, daughter Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, born January 8, 2005, and son Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, born November 29, 2003. She gave birth to her and Brad's daughter, Shiloh, on May 27, 2006 in the nation of Namibia in Africa. Jolie is now pregnant with her and Pitt's second child.
Before she began her career as an actor, Angelina modeled and appeared in music videos. Her first starring role was in the 1995 film Hackers. In 1998 Jolie was nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of supermodel Gia Carangi in the TV film Gia. She won an Oscar for Girl, Interrupted (1999). She has starred as the title character in two Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movies and provided vocal talents to the animated feature Shark Tale. She starred opposite current boyfriend Pitt as an assassin in Mr. And Mrs. Smith. She was also part of Robert De Niro’s film The Good Shepard in 2006. In 2007, she played Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain reporter Daniel Pearl in A Mighty Heart and played Grendel's mother in Beowulf. Jolie’s future projects include Wanted and Atlas Shrugged . In May 2008, two of Jolie's films will debut at the 61st Cannes Film Festival—the 1920s kidnap thriller, Changeling, and the animated adventure, Kung Fu Panda. When this actress is not on the big screen she serves as a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador and continues to work to improve the lives of refugees in different countries around the world. A pregnant Jolie joined U.S. Military in central Baghdad's heavily-fortified Green Zone in February 2008, writing about her experience in a Washington Post op-ed piece.
