First thing to come to mind: "We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty."
Apparently utilizing freedom of speech and disagreement with policy is seen as a traitorous act to some. Should we not question our government's actions? Should we not speak out when we disagree? What exactly is so American about keeping silent? Is that how we became a country? Or is the implication that this country has never done something to cause shame?

As for the children, why is their birthplace not their country? Can they not have two? Should she ignore their own backgrounds? How exactly does that coincide with patriotism in America? If a child of Americans lives in another country should they ignore their American background?

Obviously you have not followed her work with the UN, the UNHCR to be precise. That is the Office for UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Those would be the people displaced, not dictators. She lobbies for their rights, she has done such in the US as well as many other places.

Is she trying to buy their love? You almost always see her taking the kids shopping and walking out with bags and bags of toys. Kids do not need that many toys. It causes them to be spoiled and not have much focus because they are so overwhelmed with material, unimaginative things. I've seen it firsthand in many kids.

My mom always bought be a lot of toys and now I'm a double major in college and very much involved in my school with regard to peer education in mental health, suicide outreach and prevention in college students, and reducing the the stigma attached to students who have depression and other common mental health disorders.

I don't think I'm not focused or spoiled! Maybe she just loves her children and has the money to buy them a lot of toys. :)

You know, I buy my kids a toy or some fun item at least twice a month. It's a natural habit, I dont even realize I do as often. See when you have kids and enjoy them, you buy things for them b/c u can and you like too. It's not about buying their love. When i see toys or goodies my kids will enjoy I just buy them. Why? Because I love them and I DON'T NEED a REASON NOR NEED TO JUSTIFIE TO OTHERS WHY I BUY THEM SO MANY TOYS! GET OVER YOURSELVES AND WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN KIDS!
