UPDATE: Anne Hathaway's Ex-Boyfriend Arrested, Faces Life in Prison

 Larry Busacca/WireImage.com Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend, Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri, could face life in prison stemming from being arrested on charges of wire fraud and money laundering. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Follieri, 29, misappropriated "hundreds of thousands of dollars in investor money to live a luxurious lifestyle, including expensive restaurants and clothes; dog walking services; an opulent apartment in Manhattan that leased for approximately $37,000 per month; medical expenses for his girlfriend at the time and his parents, including a 'house call' by Follieri's physician, which cost $30,000." Prosecutors also charge he claimed the Vatican formally appointed him to manage its financial affairs, and that he met with the Pope in person while in Italy — but "in reality, [his] connections consisted of an adminstrative employee at the Vatican who was paid by Follieri." He's been charged with six counts of wire fraud, five counts of money laundering and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The wire fraud charges alone could result in 120 years in prison and a $1.5 million charge. The Daily Mail of London recently reported that Hathaway, 25, broke it off with Follieri because she feared that his recent legal woes could hurt her career. An additional source confirmed the split to Usmagazine.com: "Yes, they're taking a break. All the shady stuff was too much." Follieri is also under investigation by the New York State Attorney General's office for failing to file tax-disclosure forms for his charity, the Follieri Foundation. He was arrested in April for allegedly writing a $215,000 bad check. During an appearance on The View that aired last Thursday, Hathaway admitted she wasn't feeling her "girlish, bubbly" self. I read somewhere that she was involved in his charity foundation, on the board or something. You'd think she'd have the sense to make sure she was involved in something that was legitimate. She really risked her caeer and reputation by doing that. A lot of people will think she was involved somehow too.

I like Anne Hathaway. She seems like a very nice, down to earth lady. Her EX-boyfriend on the other hand is a moron. My thoughts on it all is that he new this was coming and he didn't, nor did she want to be involved with this whole thing. So, they broke up and she moved on with her life so that she wouldn't have to be put through all of the media crap and heartache as a "couple." I don't think that Anne knew what was going on with all her EX-boyfriends bad behavior. When you look at him, he just screams sly, creepy, scumbag. I wish her the best in her life and as for her EX, he'll probably end up in prison as someone's beeotch.

From looking at the picture, it seems like she wasn't comfortable around him then. She looks unconfortable with him & seems to be pushing his hand away all with a fake smile. Then he, on the other hand, looks like he is very controlling...so maybe there was more to the breakup than what meets the eye. Either way, I love Anne & she def made the right choice to leave him.

Also, I just wanted to say, congratulations to Alison Sweeney,Biggest Loser's gost, and her husband, Dave Sanov, on expecting their second child, they already have a son, Ben, 3, etc., etc.

She broke off with the guy for a reason. Why not print the story, without including her name, or at least without picturing the two of them together. I doubt people are actually interested in what this guy does, from here on out. He's on his own now, while Ann seems to be trying very hard, to move on with her life.
