Blake Lewis Bio Bio

A Washington state native, Lewis became a household name after competing on the sixth season of Fox’s reality hit, American Idol. Known on the show for his innovative beatboxing skills, Lewis first got his start as a member of the Seattle-based acapella group Kickshaw in the years after high school. Shortly thereafter, the singer/songwriter became known in the Seattle community as Bshorty, and participated in national beatboxing competitions under the new moniker. This multi-talented performer is also schooled on the guitar, piano and drums, skills he will showcase on this summer’s Idol concert tour.

Lewis, who ended his most recent relationship prior to his Idol run, is currently single.

Career

American Idol catapulted Lewis to stardom, but the 25-year-old was more than ready to accept his newfound celebrity. Wowing the nation with his unique takes on the Bon Jovi classic “You Give Love a Bad Name” and Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know,” Lewis debuted his first album, Audio Day Dream, in 2007. In addition to his vocal talents, Lewis is also a philanthropist and has translated his fame into charitable donations, encouraging fans to donate to Seattle’s Children’s Hospital on his behalf for cancer research initiatives.
