Britney Spears and Dad Head to Mel Gibson's Costa Rican Ranch

 Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com; ShowBizIreland/Getty Images Britney Spears, her father Jamie and actor Mel Gibson boarded a private plane bound for Costa Rica at 9:05 this morning, Entertainment Tonight reported. Gibson – who has helped people with sobriety issues – is hosting them at his 400-acre ranch in Central America, according to ET. Spears' children Sean Preston and Jayden James won't be joining their mom. According to the the terms of her custody agreement, Spears' boys can't leave the country without special approval. This is not the pop star's first encounter with the Braveheart actor. The unlikely pals dined at Romanov Russian restaurant & Lounge in Studio City, CA in March. I think that Mel Gibson is the right person to talk to Britney Spears. He can talk with her about handling the pressures of fame and the paparazzi. Hopefully Britney can take a few pointers, stand tall again, make a strong comeback and another strong pop album like Blackout. She does need to get away from LA and the paparazzi--that's too much on her. She needs some peace and quiet for a few days.

I'm glad she is doing better, and what a great place to go for vacation! Costa Rica is beautiful and peaceful, she will def have a good time. For anyone who is looking for a nice vacation,I totally recommend it, just went there during my break and it was amazing!

I'm not going to praise Mel Gibson for helping out Brit, only because of the anti-semetic remarks he made about Jewish people nearly two years ago, but it's nice that his wife, Robin, is helping her, etc.

Its actually nice to see that brit is starting to get better. One step at a time. 2:50pm- How can you judge someone if you dont really know them? Who really knows? But give them a brake. HA HA!! You are living in a fantasy world if you think your mom bought a house on 20 acres for $120,000. There is not ONE house on ANY listing that is under $300,000 for a home and they are not even close to being on any size acreage like that. (For your argument before you start, my husband and I have been in contact with many agents down there as we are buying a second home there.) If you like, you can google the prices of property, then tell me how much she DIDN'T pay. LOL

My mom just bought a house in Costa Rica in the city of Tamarindo right on the ocean, 22 acres, for 120,000. that's how cheap it is down there, so beautiful!

i think it will be great for britney to get away. i do think that it was simon cowell who said it best a while back though....she should go do some humanitarian work like they do on idol gives back. i've been to mexico on a mission trip, and nothing feels more rewarding than when you're pulling out of the driveway and the kids you've been with all week are running after your van and beating on the windows b/c they don't want you to leave. to me, that is therapy.
