UPDATE: John McCain Compares Barack Obama to Britney and Paris in New Ad

Republican presidential candidate John McCain has released a new ad featuring shots of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton (Watch above). Both stars appear briefly as a narrator describes Democratic opponent Barack Obama as "the biggest celebrity in the world." The narrator then asks, "Is he ready to lead?" Meanwhile, Hilton's rep told Usmagazine.com: "Miss Hilton was neither asked, nor did she give permission, for the use of her likeness in the ad, and has no further comment." The Obama campaign responded in a statement: "On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, 'Oops! He did it again.'" McCain campaign manager Rick Davis explained in a conference call with reporters: "What we decided to do is find the top three international celebrities in the world, and I would say from our indications, Britney and Paris came in second and third. "It is not our campaign that is trying to make him into an international celebrity," Davis added. "It's his campaign... So I met this guy who's tire went flat, and I loaned him a spare and he told me how he used to be a teacher, somewhere in the southwest, and was paid so poorly, that he joined the military, which brought him to Oahu for training. So if Obama cuts military spending, and increases educational spending, maybe the guy could go back to teaching, once he gets paid equivalently.

It was simply implying that she is considered one of the big celebs like Obama. I guess she just can't share the limelight, with all this campaign stuff she must feel everyone forgot about her. Instead of complaining about something NONE of you can fix -try supporting the troops for now. They can use socks, Tapatio hot sauce(my friend in Iraq called and ASKED for it, it reminds him of home!) razors, trail mix etc... even just a dang card. Jeeeze. He is on his second tour and he is there to protect your butts. deal with it. You are here in America -if you are going to take up space here and enjoy the freedom, you can now TAKE TIME TO THANK THE SOLDIERS for the FREEDOM you have to sit on your butts and type negative things..... If McCain really cared about our soldiers why is he for keeping troops in Iraq? He should be the first person to be trying to ship them home after his experiences in Vietnam. I personally am sick of going to funerals for fallen fellow soldiers and will vote for anyone who is willing to TRY to get them home. 100 more years in Iraq McCain....Sorry I will be voting for Obama!!!!!

Watch the ad. A quick snippet of Paris and the rest on Obama's plans and ability to lead. The Obama spin machine is fantastic. Its making everyone focus on the snippet and not on the issues that make up 80% of the commercial. Obama must be a good sheppard because he has a lot of sheep following him.

The funniest thing about all the comments is that we sound stupid for thinking that politics, media, society in general are not going to correlate in some fashion. The truth is that McCain cannot get sued, those are public images (Paparazzi do it all the time). Another truth is that John McCain has to bring to light Barrack, for publicity. Sure I would love to see candidates that only brought light to the things that they can do for us and their strengths, but then we would not all be posting messages as such about some campaign ad. I guess some of us don’t understand publicity. Another thought for some of us, check your sources on stats and popularity - they are not very accurate and anyone that opposes either party can make stuff up and present it as “truth.” McCain is an American hero - don’t take that from him, because of some ad he ran for publicity. Barrack is a very educated man with some great insights, but that doesn’t mean he can carry each out. Check your sources always, don’t let others opinions sway you from the truth!
