Britney Spears Up Against Jonas Brothers for MTV Award

Britney Spears, the Jonas Brothers and Danity Kane will vie for Best Pop Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

It will be announced on F'N MTV tonight (8 p.m. ET) that Spears' "Piece of Me," the Jonas Brothers' "Burnin Up," Danity Kane's "Damaged," Tokio Hotel's "Ready, Set, Go!"and Panic at the Disco's "Nine in the Afternoon" are up for the golden moon-man statue.

The nominees for Best Hip Hop Video will also be announced on Friday's show: Lil Wayne for "Lollipop"; Lupe Fiasco for "Superstar"; Flo Rida featuring T-Pain for "Low"; Kanye West for "Homecoming"; and Mary J. Blige for "Just Fine."

The Jonas Brothers are scheduled to perform on the 25th annual awards, which will air live on Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

Last week, Spears' "Piece of Me" was nominated for Best Female Music Video.

She'll compete in that category against Katy Perry for "I Kissed a Girl," Rihanna for "Take a Bow," Mariah Carey for "Touch My Body" and Jordin Sparks for "No Air."

The nominees for Best Male Music Video are T.I. for "What You Know," Usher for "Love in the Club," Lil Wayne for "Lollipop," Chris Brown for "With You" and Flo Rida for "Low."

The telecast will be hosted by British actor/comedian Russell Brand.

Although we are more of a hard rock/real metal/prog rock listeners of real bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Rush, Genesis, Queen, The Who, The Eagles, Iron Maiden and so forth, we have respect for people like The Jonas Brothers aho do write their own music, play their instruments, can sing very well and are seen as an antidote to shister like rap and skanks like Rihanna.

She can't write anything so she sings other people's songs because her drug induced mind can't come up with something original. Her voice is not just terrible, it is sh*t--it sounds like she just inhaled helium combined with the Marlboro Lights and other sh*t she consumed. Hasn't had a long lasting hit in years (her last album was outsold by The Eagles' first album in 28 years shows rock and roll is alive and Britney is DEAD). Her looks are gone (the video was edited with trickery to make her look like she is hot when she is sh*t). She gave her kids away when all she wants to do is go to parties, get photo ops and so on. I think the Jonas Brothers should win. Britney's 15 minutes of fame are up. She needs to put her clothes back on, go back home and take care of her kids.

wow, im amazed at how much controversy there is over a bunch of music videos! i understand that winning a VMA is a big deal, but people come on! A week afterwards, will THAT be the highlight of your conversation at work? I think not. Now personally, Im a JB fan all the way, but Im not going to obsess over this like a bunch of three year olds!
People seriously need to grow up and get a life.
