Britney Spears' former bodyguard Tony Barretto appeared on the Today show Monday to discuss the affadavit he submitted in the singer’s custody trial, stating that her sons, Sean, 2, and Jayden, 1, are in danger due to her erratic behavior.
Barretto was hired to be Spears’ bodyguard after she came out of rehab in late February and was fired two months later.
“Are you someone with an ax to grind?" the Today show’s Matt Lauer asked. “Are you looking to seek revenge for the fact that you were fired?”
“I just wanted to make sure that the public and the court and her fans know the truth,” Barretto said.
The former bodyguard (also called the “secret witness” in the case) submitted a declaration under penalty of perjury, but because the testimony is under seal, he cannot specify what is in that declaration. However, Barretto did confirm to the Today show that said he saw Spears, 25, using drugs on two occasions in a nightclub in Los Angeles.
In one incident, according to Barretto, “she had me hold up a curtain to make her area private, and at one point it was getting hard to hold the curtain for such a long period of time so I – the attempt was to look over and get her approval to let go of the curtain, at which point I noticed what she was doing.”
He continued: “The other occasion was when we escorted her to a private restroom upstairs which was secured for her and she was in there for some time alone. I was there waiting for her outside the door – again, for some time – and I thought it would be appropriate to check on her, and I knocked and peaked in and observed this behavior.”
Barretto also told Lauer that he once found Spears in a Los Angeles hotel room sweating, shaking, and appearing completely strung out. “Did you also see evidence of drug use in that hotel?” Lauer asked.
“I did,” said Barretto.
The former bodyguard was the only witness at the custody hearing available to testify -- and be cross examined under oath -- on issues involving Britney Spears’ post-rehab. After he submitted his declaration, the court declared Spears a frequent and “habitual” user of controlled substances and alcohol.
However, Barretto told the Today show: “I have never seen her use drugs in the presence of her children.”
What about alcohol?
“Alcohol, that’s one personal opinion,” he said. “I don’t know if ‘abuse’ is the correct language. I have seen her drink alcohol and that would be up to the courts to decide whether that was abuse or just a drink.”
Lauer asked why Barretto didn’t confront Spears on her behavior.
“It was almost forbidden to talk to her about her personal life,” he said. “Britney doesn’t listen to nobody, that’s apparent.”

I think that he is lying about his motivation or rather sudden "urgent motivation" to speak out about Britney's 'bad behaviour.' There may be truth to what he is saying but when you sell your story and appear in every magazine and on every talk show, people start doubting your motives and stop listening to what you're saying. In the end the 'generous and caring' intentions are lost.
As for Britney being on drugs - haven't we all known or at least suspected it for years? She is yet another unfortunate young celebrity who did the drugs and lost control. Hollywood and all these young celebrities are living on drugs. No surprise.
I can't wait for the media to get over this bitter bodyguard's story and move on to something more interesting. The judge made the ruling, the next step is after the drug testing. Anything this bodyguard says is yesterday's news.
If she really was THAT bad don't you think all the other bodyguards and her former personal assistant/s would have said something....?
Innocence is thought charming because it offers delightful possibilities for exploitation.

I don't think he's necessarily lying - exaggerating maybe -but I'm doubtful that he's lying. The timing is pretty interesting though - funny how he never thought her fans needed to know the truth while he was still employed by Britney. The guy obviously wants money from her, probably to keep quiet.

She is a human being who has made mistakes, and is trying to change her life. Why don't we watch and see, AND stop wishing for her to fail. No one is perfect, some make more mistake than others, but we are human beings, who can change. It is in the best interest of her children , and herself, that she does. I am wishing for the best, because it is hateful, and cruel to wish the worst for others.
This bodyguard said that he did what he did for the children?! Telling stories about Britney to a magazine for the money, is that for the children too?!. How does he think this is going to help the children, or help Britney? Testifying in court is one thing, BUT selling stories, like he did shows that his efforts were all for himself, and NOT for the children at all. If he was so concerned about Britney's children, why make up stories about THINKING that she may drown the children, wouldn't a caring person had called the poloce, or CPS, if they believed this. But he didn't, did he?! NOR did he call the police or ambulance when he thought Britney was overdosing. (Maybe he thought she would die, and then he would make millions telling THAT story) He seems like a vulture. The bottom line is that the judge obviously wasn't buying this guys bull****, if he had, Britney would not have retained 50/50 custody of her children. If the judge had thought that Britney would harm her children, he would have probably given her supervised visitation, and only after intense counselling. The judge would never have let her near her children alone.
I'm actually surprised that there are still people out there who think Brit is normal and everyone else is lying. Are you f'n kidding me????? This woman is seriously wacked out right now. Whether it's mental or not, she needs to get some serious help. I personally believe this guy. She has shown too many instances ON HER OWN of the same types of behavior. Also, I have never seen pics of Suri or Zahara with other kids, so they must not have met any either. That makes total sense.

How about a play group. Maybe the kids already go to play group. Maybe 1, or 2, or 45 or 0. Maybe they go to the daycare center at the recording studio. Maybe not.
We don't know, because we don't know them. We don't know what their lives or personalities or schedules are like. Like, at all.
It's fun to look at pics of celebrities but that doesn't make them our friends or make us know what they're really like or what's going on with them. It's possible that these kids have never met anyone outside of their mom and photographers, never seen another child, or any place besides Robinson, ever. But we can't really say for sure.
Jen-- Give me a break! Your statement makes no sense. Even when Britney is at her home, the paparazzi are in trees taking pictures of her and the children. So don`t you think that they are going to follow her everywhere she goes. Would you prefer she go to the local mall in Beverly Hills, don`t you think the paps would follow her there too. They would follow this girl all over the world, just like they do Angelina. (The paps are out to make money, and getting photos of Britney is the way they do it, so there is nowhere the paparazzi wouldn`t follow her. (For now the paparazzi is a part of her life). Britney and her children should not have to live like they are in prison. They need to try to have as normal a life as possible, and that include leaving your house when you want to.
It's great that we live in a world where the word of a guy who's hawking a story for cash can affect a court decision. Be nice to your neighbors, because if they don't like you you can lose your kids in a divorce.

Jen--Taking your children outside your gate is not a crime, that is how they learn about, and experience the world. Children need to be socialized, they cannot live in a bubble. Britney's children are going to have to go to school soon, they are going to have to get comfortable seeing people they don't know, and learning how to interact with those people. Some parents choose to isolate their children from the world, because it is easier for them. Doing that does not benefit the children. (Britney's children will be well adjusted because they have Britney who is willing to take them out into the world, and not keep them locked up behind a fence. Do you notice that even Britney's mother takes the children out when she is babysitting them, she does not keep them locked away like K-fed. He keeps them in the house, or in the backyard, because it is easier for him to deal with them that way. If K-fed was parenting these children by himself, and he kept them locked away like he does, they would cry, and scream, and not want to leave his side when they meet new people, they would also have a very difficult time when they have to go to school. They would probably be very ackward, and shy children, with stunted emotional growth. Children cannot be locked away, it is unhealthy. (For example Brad Pitt, Angelina, Ben Affleck Ryan and Resse Witherpoon, take their children out of the home, they do not keep them locked away).

Kevin a responsible adult! Ha. That's why his kids have rotten teeth (if the rumor is true). Not seeing pictures of him and the kids - ummmmm..... he has no problem being in the public eye and smiling for his very own picture. This guy is a mooch - and this all is a cash cow and attention fix for him. I'm sure Brit hasn't been a peach during this whole ordeal, but Kevin is no saint. Sure the kids may be in better care with Kevin's nanny (while he goes out and partys), but that's not a parent either. Don't give him credit for being a dad that he isnt'. I used to dislike Kevin, but it's clear he is the only mature person in this breakup. He has been incredably responsibly with the kids. The fact that he's manages to keep photogs away from them while he is caring for them is impressive.
Don't think they aren't staking out Kevin's house too. They just don't get a pic because he, unlike britney, is in it for the kids, not himself.

If the judge had heard what the bodyguard is saying, AND believed ONE word of it, he would NOT have let Britney keep custody of her children. Do you actually think a jugde would risk the children's life, OR even his career, to let Britney keep her children, if he believed she would harm them.
