Britney Spears' next music video is pure animation.
In "Break the Ice," an animated Spears works her way through a futuristic environment.
"Since Britney has been otherwise occupied this was a creative and fun way to do her next video," a source tells Usmagazine.com.
The concept for the treatment was Spears' own idea, UK newspaper The Sun reports.
"Break the Ice" is the third single from Spears' Blackout album.
Spears is scheduled to play a dorky receptionist on the March 24 episode of CBS' How I Met Your Mother.
"Britney’s not playing a version of herself," Mother creator Craig Thomas tells Us. "I think that’s part of what appealed to her."

I've never been a fan of Britney Spears (although I don't care enough to HATE her), but I AM a fan of animation... so I had to see the video.
First of all, I was actually surprised that I LIKED the song.
Understandably, Britney has other things going on in her life... and she's too out of shape and messed up to do a 'live video'... so the animated route is the way to go.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the video.
For one, the concept of making different songs into a continuous animated tale is not new. I'm reminded of Daft Punk... and for the record, I enjoyed those videos WAY more than Britney's new video.
Second, Britney is not the first rocker blonde to turn herself into a sexy hero... think Courtney Love and "princess Ai". So, nothing is new or breakthrough about this video.
As for the animation... it was poorly done. If you watch closely, there's actually not a lot of animation. What you see is a lot of still shots. If you call moving the same image from one side of the screen to the other side of the screen animation... well... more power to you, I suppose.
I wish this video had been more dynamic. Instead, half the video is Britney walking in either a front and back view or profile. Even when she lip-syncs the words, the shot is straight on of her animated character.
So... thumbs up for the song... thumbs down on the animation.

This is just wrong!! Has anyone else noticed that most of her new songs are copied from other singers!? I heard some songs from the album that sound almost exactly like songs from a Japanese singer, and these pics from her animation look EXTREMELY similar to a music video by that Japanese singer!

And she is not looking for attention fool. She has a career (something you should try and get) and she is working hard on it. Stop trying to be Mr. Self Righteous and leave the damn woman alone if you don't like her. I dunno what century you grew up in, but a singer making a music video is not looking for attention.
And she is FAR from being a "has-been". Her song was released just this week and it is already the 38th most listened to song in America. "Has-beens" don't do that. And her album sold 2 million copies worldwide so far. "Has-beens" don't do that either. Also, she is the most searched person on the internet, the most profitable person in the media as well as the most photographed person in the world. I think all that constitutes that she is NOT a "Has-been".
Try and learn a few things before you go passing judgment you idiot.

Lets be honest here for a minute. When 15 y/o boys and girls grow up they will realize that worshiping this has been was a waste of time. come on people. There are far greater things to do and see in life than to worry about this washed up good for nothing. Regardless of what publicity seekers think, she did this to herself. I run my own life, she runs hers. She made these decisions, now she has to make up for it. Honestly, is she that desperate for attention? Children listen, if you like her music, than by all means listen to the cd until it falls apart. However, someday you will all grown up and realize that it was a joke to begin with. thank you.
