Britney Spears’ puppy, London, did break its leg earlier this month, but the singer is not to blame, Usmagazine.com has learned.
Rumors began to surface on Friday that either Spears or one of her sons had broken the leg of the Yorkie puppy the singer bought last month for $3,000, causing the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to pay a visit the pop star’s residence.
According to Madeline Bernstein, President of the L.A. branch of the SPCA, the dog was hurt but the minor injuries were the result of an accident.
“It was a very slight fracture,” Berstein tells Us. “The dog didn’t need a real cast or surgery. There was just a splint put on the dog.”
On Monday, the SPCA received a note from Spears’ veterinarian confirming that the pooch was treated. The organization also interviewed members of the singer’s staff to determine what had happened.
“As it turns out, Britney wasn’t there when the dog mishap occurred,” she says.
“The dog got under someone’s foot in the walk-in closet,” says Bernstein, who added that the accident didn’t involve the children.
“It’s not that unusual for people to step on their dogs by accident or trip over them,” Bernstein tells Us. “Things like this can happen.”
She added: “It’s always a good opportunity when something like this happens just to remind people in general just to be careful, especially with these little Yorkies, Pomeranians, Chihuahua’s that tend to get under you.”

Bottom line Britney Spears is no role model.
She's screwing up but I still feel sorry for her.
I don't like her, I think she's trash and she needs to quit partying and start taking responsibility for her kids. None of us really knows what goes on inside her head but HER things you read in magazines are by other people and it could or could not be true. I don't think she's abusing anybody she's not that bad of a person but I do think that she needs to grow up and be mature because she's acting like a teenager.

Britt isn't that bad. She should straighten up a ,bit for the public eyes but no one really sees her inside life. When she is out parting her children are not with her. In that being said you have to give her a little credit. Also you know the public takes the smallest things and runs with it to have something to talk about.

Britney needs to grow up, stop partying and take on the responsibility of being a mother. The time for the
boozing and wild parties should be put behind her and if she wants the world to recognize her for her beauty & artistic ability that is one thing but to be acting like trailer trash is unexcusable. I think its pathetic how everyone thinks of her as a bad person. There is worse people out there, but you choose to focus on her. Get a life people. Everyone is just trying to make her look like a bad person. First of all, she got married at a young age, had two children at a young age, had her friends taken away from her because of Kevin, and he got to do anything he wanted. At least give her some resprect.

It does not take much research to know that Yorkies are not good pets to have if you have small children. Many Yorkies are naturally wary of children because most little ones are not gentle enough with these fragile dogs. This can lead to the kid not liking the dog and treating them even more carelessly, and perpetuate the dog not liking the kid. I have adopted several Yorkies from YTNR (Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue) over the years, and several have come from homes where the dog was mistreated by the kid. One of my dogs came to me from a couple that had had him his whole life, 12 years. Then they had a baby and gave up the dog, because the 8 pound dog couldn't deal with how rough the infant was with it. It is not the dog's fault nor is it the kid's fault. Dogs, like children, should not be treated as accessories. Anyone with small children needs to do a little research before choosing a breed of pet. Small dogs are usually not compatible with small children, but it depends on the breed. Yorkies otherwise are wonderful pets, if you are interested in getting one, please consider rescuing one. Go to YTNR.com or google Yorkie Rescue in your area.

I have a 130 pound Newfoundland and I trip over him all the time. He just lays where he wishes and if you aren't careful he will be around the corner, laying in the middle of where you walk. A small dog puts themselves in harms way constantly, they are fast and get under you feet. Get a grip on reality people.

PLEASE,this is ridiculous - the dog is small, they break easy and working for a vet, I see it often. People need to stop this nonsense and worry about truly abused animals - if you care so much to make your nasty comments, then care enough to do something useful and save an animal! Just like there are truly abused children out there, but you hypocrites pretend you care by bashing Britney - her children are well cared for, not hungry and clean ... there are many thousands here in USA alone that are not! Whew. I'm soo relieved she wasn't there when that happened to the dog. And thank goodness she also wasn't there when jayden fall and had to be taken to the doctor and cildren's aid was called. was she also _not there_ when her childern were not buckled into their carseats correctly?

I don't know how anyone who works for this magazine lives with himself. You publish all these stupid rumors and they're breaking down her door to take her animals and kids away. Oh noes what is she up to this week, shopping? Have her institutionalized. Meanwhile, US is telling us to give props because he's cutback on smoking pot while his kids are around, so no double standard there. He's got family helping him, isn't he great, if she has family helping her it will be irresponsible mother dumps responsibility on to others.
