Cameron Diaz's father died from pneumonia, according to TMZ
Emilio Diaz, 58, recently developed the flu which then turned into pneumonia. He was a second generation Cuban-American who worked an oil company. He had a bit part in his daughter's movie "There's Something About Mary."
Production was shut down Tuesday on Diaz's current project, "My Sister's Keeper," according to TMZ.
Cameron's rep has not responded to request for comment.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Cameron and her family. I lost my father 11 years ago and know how difficult this time is for her and her family. Hopefully the press will respect their privacy and allow them to grieve without expecting any comment.

My deepest condolences are with Cameron Diaz and her family in this difficult time. How tragic to lose her father at such a relatively young age. My dad turned 58 today and he's already outlived his own father by a year, and the thought of losing him is too much to even consider. I'd be heartbroken, and I just hope that the press leaves Cameron and her family alone to grieve in private because they're all certainly heartbroken too. It's scary to think that something as seemingly mundane as the flu can devolve into a fatal illness. I realize this happens but still. I don't know, it just makes you think.
