screw everyone who doesn't support this relationship. John and Cameron are my two favorite celebs in Hollywood, and whoever would have seen this coming! I was ecstatic...John is a brilliant, lyrical genius. he knows exactly what women want and deserves a phenomenal, loyal girlfriend. Cameron is just adorable- she's so fricken normal, laid back, fun to be around. She is the type of girlfriend that would totally sit in a bar and watch the football game with her beau and his friends. He needs a girl like that. Not a materialistic, flashy one like Jessica Simpson (who is too stupid to even appreciate and understand his deep lyrics) I love her Cam and John--congrats to the both of them I'm sooo happy!

Firstly John Mayer is a an amazing singer and songwriter, he is fantastic live and what he can do with a guitar...WOW..As for this "love affair"....just because they are in the public arena does nto mean we have the right to judge who they see and what the age difference is. If it is 6 months or 6 years.....it is none of our business and if they make each other happy.......GOOD luck to them.. Although I am a little jealous that Cam gets to have him...

Real, true honest love is just plain hard. It isn't fun and it isn't skippy skippy joy joy. It's still holding hands after years of pain, fights, deaths, births, and very low times. Love is not the glorious thing you see happen at the end of chick flicks. Just my opinion though.

Which is fine, because not everybody wants to spend their lives with somebody they're not in love with. Just because it's work doesn't mean it's "love." Being young and screwing around is part of being young and beautiful for some people. Nothing wrong with that. Not everybody is a slave to the idea of an eternal relationship.

But, of course, you speak some truth there from some people's perspectives.

Here's how it works [for most mature people] on 'the mourning period'-thing. Regardless of whether a person is a celebrity or not, it takes time - several months to a year or longer - to get over a serious, committed relationship, before a person can be emotionally available to a new love interest. Unless, of course, the whole thing was a sham and/or media ploy to begin with.

With Diaz/Timberlake, that would fall under 'serious, committed' - they were together for a few years, in an exclusive deal, and had emotionally over-lapped their lives with each other. Afterwards, they both chilled from rebounding, though Justin, a younger guy [not surprisingly], went first.

With Mayer/Simpson, although it was on/off-again for a while, there was never an extended 'On' period and a sense that each was the other's significant other, as opposed to 'main squeeze'. This works for lots of people in their 20's.

We're not talking about 'people who can't get over' it's about 'how' people go through the process, if they're able to remain friends with their ex, and if they're secure enough to not rebound into the next pair of arms. At this point, it's also totally valid to date around, maybe for sex, maybe for an emotional connection, or be celibate for months. It's a completely individual thing, there.

What your parents and most adults know is that the 'honeymoon period' in a relationship can last a couple years sometimes. This is when all the love chemicals are keeping both people hot, 'in love', and having lots of sex. It's only after that period that each person begins to show their true selves to the other and the real context of the relationship gets established.
