Carrie Underwood isn't crying a river over her recent split from Chace Crawford.
"We broke up over text, so it's like 'peace out,'" Underwood, 25, told Extra at the Idol Gives Back taping in Hollywood Sunday. "It was completely mutual, we're both fine."
She said they haven't talked "in a while, but I mean, I don't dislike him. So it's no big deal."
Their relationship "just didn't work," Underwood added, "and we both knew it didn't work and [there are] no hard feelings at all whatsoever."
Dating in the public eye is "difficult ... because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are," she said.
Usmagazine.com was the first to report on their split. They called it quits because of their conflicting schedules, sources told Us.
"They couldn't spend time together," a source said. "It was hard."
Underwood — who topped Us' Best Makeover of 2007 list — and Crawford had been dating since last July.

Maybe she's not really as glamorous as her record label thinks she is. I think she has turned into a different person, especially with that new single, "Last Name." I want my money back for this filth.... I was fooled with the "Jesus" front. Shame on her!
Chace is too hot for this whiny diva.
I actually just saw a survey from Wirefly that seems like it was timed to come out with this news - supposedly, 1 in 25 people have broken up via text message. Kind of a scumbag move, if you ask me.
To all you morons that thing he brooke up with her, it was actually Carrie who sent the text. Duh! That's how girls role.
Carrie Underwood = DIVA! At one of her concerts she completely blew off her fans. She said she couldn't sign autographs because she needed rest. Real snobby attitude too. She's not as innocent as everyone thinks she is. Chace probably broke up with her, because he couldn't stand her whiney butt. Obviously she's still fuming over the breakup. Tsk, tsk, Carrie, you should know better to not share personal things. You must be looking for attention. Plus, she has a face only a mother can love. Who can love a hagsville, clown make-up, butter face? Chace probably eventually turned the lights on in the room and really saw what she looked like. U-G-L-Y!
Hasn't everyone who's commented here had a relationship that had failed for some reason or another, like really.. I don't think any of us really have any buisness in stating our opinion on why we think they broke up or if texting was a good idea or bad idea in there situation... I personally think I would never text to break up with someone, but then again I've never dated anyone who could be anywhere in the world at the time of wanting to break up with him.. so clearly maybe since they broke up over a busy scheduale, it was also to busy to get together to just break up....
Text-message break up? What is this, sophomore year of high school?! LAME!
Glad they broke up- I cant stand either one, Carrie let celebrity go to her head, and yes there have been interviews that say she is quite demanding on the men she dates- like she wants them to tour with her-um ok- I am not saying all these interviews are true but there are enough of them out there that she is starting to sound like a very demanding diva. And just because she seems nice in interviews doesnt mean she is, and she can be polite and still be a love em/leave em type.

Trust me I am in no way jealous of Ms. Underwood, that is the only thing that really stuck out about her that I can remember, I think she is very talented and she deserves all that she has accomplished. I just think it is tacky that people who have claimed to have gone to school with her always have to say something bad, like she was a love em and leave em type, I just know she was a polite person.
LOL @ break-up over text. It's not rude per se but it is extremely lame, celebrity or not.
carrie underwood rules,
chace crawford rules
the way they broke up doesn't matter, they're both talented performers, so stop judging you jerks
4:23, way to be a negative person. If you don't remember anything about her then leave the poor girl alone and don't criticize her. Who cares if she was a bad waitress. Obviously she was meant to be a famous singer. You are just making yourself look jealous.
I went to college with her and I can HONESTLY say I didn't know her, I think she may have been in one of my classes, but not for sure, she was always polite when she was a waitress at Sam and Ella's but not a very good waitress, as far as being a love em and leave em, I don't know, like I said I went to college with her but I really don't remember anything other than she was a BAD waitress.
Sounds to me like she's more upset than you might think...she's so full of herself that it's probably killing her that he DUMPED her!!! And by text???? LMAO!!!
He totally looks like he's not into her WHAT-SO-EVER! Oh yah, that's right. He likes guys. THAT could be the problem!!!
OMG!!! She looks so old in that picture...Looks like his mom...:)
she seems likes a nice enough person, just really busy and driven. he seems like a child compared to her and no,they didnt seem like a good match. but they did date for quite some time,so there is probably more to their break-up than she is letting on.
2:41, did you go to college with her or are you just smoking something?
NSU Rocks! :)
I always think it is funny that people who don't like someone are the first to comment or post a message about the "said person". Obviously you like or are curious enough about Carrie to be 1) reading an article about her and 2) signing up on here to send a comment about her and this story. Anyway, re: this relationship, both these people are young and busy. That is probably why a text was sent, because I doubt most people would jump on a plane to go break up w/ someone. There is nothing wrong w/ either of these people and I'm sure they probably still like each other, but not enough to maintain a long distance relationship, therefore it had run its course. Both of them are very young and good looking, and need to have fun, excel in their careers and date as many people as they want to until they find the right person. Not sure why that is such a big deal.

Carrie was always the love em and leave em type in college, she spent alot of her time gettin around. She plays the little innocent shy girl very well.
He probably resorted to breaking up with her via text message because she was to demanding on him.
I am her fan, but I can not condone her for doing this interview. It was kind of mean. She should have just said they broke up and it was mutual. Not a good choice there, Carrie. So disappointed in her. :(
It depends, but over text & e-mail is a very rude way to break up!
yeah, it's rude to break up over text...
I agree this is not a great pic of her, but that is NOT what she looks like. It is just a bad picture. Why do you all dislike her so much? She has seemed humble and nice in any interview I have ever seen of her. I like her.
And as for her song lyrics, I don't think she writes them, she just sings them.
um....who cares?
