Cate Blanchett Confirms Pregnancy

Cate Blanchett used an appearance on a Sydney red carpet to announce that she is expecting her third child. She was there to promote her latest movie, Elizabeth, The Golden Age.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, when a reporter asked if it was true that she is having a boy, the Oscar winner replied, "You know more than me. It's early days yet. It's due in April." The Australian actress, 38, and her husband, writer-director Andrew Upton, already have two sons: Dashiell John, 5, and Roman Robert, 3.

Cate is a great actress, but what is she doing in some of these god-awful movies? Like "Notes on a Scandal." Who wants to watch a movie about lesbian teachers sleeping with their male students. Other than MCET, I mean. And the Elizabeth movies are so far removed from historical accuracy that they are insulting-to the audience and to Elizabeth!

FYI. "Atlas Shrugged" will almost certainly not be made. It is technically difficult, as the novel was over 1000 pages and had complex dialogue. The author couldn't do it in her own lifetime, and I think I heard there was another attempt a couple of decades ago that fell through also. Also, Angelina Jolie's weight loss was said to be due to heroin use, although I don't know if she is still said to use.

According to IMDB, Angelina Jolie has two films slated for filming in 2008: "Atlas Shrugged" (confirmed) and "The Topkapi Affair" (rumored), a remake with Pierce Brosnan. That's not to mention ongoing rumors about her casting in "Sin City 2."

Where are you getting that she has no projects in the works? With that kind of workload, I seriously doubt she will get pregnant. As I stated before, the film industry does not look kindly on pregnant actresses, and Jolie appears to have an aversion to her own offspring, anyway. If the rumors are true, she regrets ever having a biological child. Her eating disorder might be some subconscious attempt to make sure that doesn't happen again.

I seriously doubt Angelina is pregnant. According to her plans, she still has to get a matching African child. Plus, she didn't really seem to like the results of her last pregnancy, to the point that she obsessively starved and overexercised off all the baby weight to rid herself of any reminder of it. And, she's got at least one confirmed movie in the works for next year, and two unconfirmed, last I heard. Rarely will an actress be pregnant during production. Sounds like she canceled the Italy trip because she is making a movie right now and can't get away.
