Indiana native Amber Portwood is one of four girls featured on MTV's hit reality show, Teen Mom -- starring alongside Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Farrah Abraham.

Born May, 14, 1990, the high school drop out welcomed daughter Leah in November 2008 with then-fiance Gary Shirley. However the twosome's frequent screaming matches and sometimes violent fights -- she was captured on camera in the show's first season trying to choke Shirley after he insulted her father -- led to frequent break-ups and make-ups.

One especially violent fight, where the aspiring cosmetologist was captured by MTV cameras punching and kicking Shirley, even led Anderson, Indiana police to launch a domestic abuse investigation against her. In December 2010, Portwood was charged with two felony counts of domestic battery one felony count of neglect of a dependent and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery. She spent one night in jail and was barred from having any contact with Shirley.

After the restraining order was lifted in February 2011, the pair -- who have both dated other people during their frequent break-ups -- decided to give their relationship another try. They both hope to finally tie the knot one day.
