Born in March 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, Celine Dion is the best-selling Canadian singer of all time as well as one of the best-selling pop female artists of this decade, having sold 17.57 million albums.
Dion’s singing career started at the ripe age of 12, when her manager and now-husband, Rene Angelil, funded her first record, La voix du bon Dieu. She became an instant teen star in the French-speaking world. By 1990, she released her first English-speaking record, Unison, which garnered a slew of hits like “Where Does My Heart Beat Now” and “The Last to Know.” She quickly became a singing sensation in the U.S., with her popularity growing in the ‘90s and then peaking at its highest when she delivered “My Heart Will Go On,” the lead single to 1998’s Titanic.
She married Angelil in December 1994 in Montreal. After years of trying to have a child naturally, Dion gave birth to Rene-Charles through in vitro fertilization. She is currently pregnant with twins.
