Christopher Paul Colfer was born on May 27, 1990 in Clovis, Calif. At Clovis East High School, Colfer was extremely involved in various clubs including the Writer's Club, the Speech & Debate program, and of course, theater. As a senior, he wrote, directed, and starred in Shirley Todd, a spoof on Sweeney Todd.
Colfer's breakout role came in 2009 when he was cast as Kurt Hummel on Fox's Glee. Originally he auditioned for the role of Artie, but creator Ryan Murphy decided to create a role especially for Colfer after being so taken with his performance.
His role as flamboyant Kurt earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television at the Satellite Awards. He and his cast mates won the Screen Actors Guild Award for their roles on Glee.
In 2010, Colfer lent his voice for a small role in Marmaduke.
