Born in 1976, Dubliner Colin Farrell studied acting at the Gaiety School of Drama before appearing in several BBC television shows. Farrell’s breakthrough role came in 2000's Tigerland, which he followed up with leading parts in Phone Booth, Minority Report and Alexander.
In 2009, the actor earned a Golden Globe for his work in In Bruges. Farrell has become even more famous as a result of his antics off the stage, which have earned him the reputation of a Hollywood “bad boy.” The actor has also received publicity for his stints in rehab.
He has one son, James, from a former relationship with model Kim Bordenave.
