Nadya Suleman

Known for giving birth to octuplets in January 2009 (bringing her total number of children to 14), the La Habra, Calif., resident earned herself the nickname “Octo-mom.”

While unemployed and on public assistance programs in 2008, Suleman conceived the octuplets through in-vitro fertilization (as she had done with her previous six children) by Dr Michael Kamrava. After the octuplets’ birth, Suleman went through a series of publicists, lawyers and childcare specialists.

In February 2009, Vivid Entertainment made Suleman a $1 million offer to star in a porn film, though she declined. Just as the hysteria around her was beginning to die down, famed attorney Gloria Allred began her crusade against Suleman, as she believed someone needed to protect the children. In April 2009, Suleman signed on to film a reality show in the UK. Her children are currently earning $250 per day filming their new reality show, which began in September 2009.
