About
Scotty McCreery is the the youngest winner in the history of American Idol. Born on October 9, 1993, the country crooner beat out fellow contestant Lauren Alaina to earn the title.
At 10 years old, McCreery — who impersonated Elvis as a child — began learning the guitar. As a student at Garner Magnet High School, he joined the vocal ensemble, Die Meistersingers, where he performed across the United States.
McCreery auditioned for Idol in Milwaukee in 2010; he was crowned the victor on May 25, 2011.
