BIO
The iconic TV show Sex and the City debuted in 1998 on HBO. The program, narrated by Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw, followed four Manhattanites searching for love in all the wrong places: Bradshaw, a famous relationship columnist, Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall), a publicist with an insatiable sex drive, Charlotte York (played by Kristin Davis), a hopeless romantic, and Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon), a jaded lawyer.
Based on a book of the same name by author Candace Bushnell, the series explored the four women's lives as they discussed sex, relationships, work and aging in the half-hour comedy.
The series ran for six seasons until 2004. Throughout its run the show was seven Emmy Awards and raked in eight Golden Globes, including Best TV Series--Musical or Comedy and Best Actress in a TV Series--Musical or Comedy.
Four years later in 2008, the series was made into a movie, which was a massive box office success. Its sequel is due in theaters in May 2010.
