Ariana Grande Is a Princess in Chris Brown’s “Don’t Be Gone Too Long” Music Video: Singer Tries Medieval Hairstyle, Does Ballet

Ariana Grande and Chris Brown are your new Romeo and Juliet!

After months of teasing on Instagram, the much-anticipated music video for Brown’s “Don’t Be Gone Too Long,” directed by the pop star, 25, and featuring It Girl Grande, 21, is finally here. Most unexpected: It boasts a medieval backdrop, complete with a Shakespearian storyline and costumes.

The three-and-a-half-minute mini-movie stars the duetting duo as star-crossed lovers, with Brown passionately singing lyrics like, “Don’t be gone too long. Tell me, who’s going to love me when you’re gone?”

Meanwhile, Grande, soon captured and locked away in a tower to wait for her true love, models three medieval fashions: a periwinkle dress with braided sleeves, a scarlet ball gown with golden Marchesa-esque embroidery and a thin white maiden dress. She also adds one non-period look: A tutu and pointe shoes, worn to demonstrate some serious ballerina skills—a lovely complement to her on-screen beau’s energetic dancing style.

One bit of her appearance does stay constant, though: In a big change from her usual half-up, half-down hairstyle, the “Problem” singer’s auburn locks are parted down the middle and finished with two long crown braids, befitting a girl playing a fairy tale princess. For two costume changes, she also added a jewel pendant that hung from a thin strap on her forehead, quite similar to the one Kim Kardashian wore when she wed Kris Humphries in 2011.
