Patridge, 29, went on to explain on AudrinaPatridge.com that she was ready for a fresh look for the New Year. “I have been wanting to do something fun and different with my hair, i decided to go all out,” she wrote. “I love the new 2015 silver/ pastel color trend… so we went for it!”

The lavender hair color trend has been going strong since Osbourne died her tresses the dusty shade back in 2012. Since then, celebs like Kesha, Nicole Richie, and Ireland Baldwin have all rocked the hue. And gray’s been quite popular, too! Color chameleon Osbourne has tried it, as well as Rihanna, Pink, and Lady Gaga.

But Patridge didn’t just gush about her new dye job! She also shared the details of the process from colorist Briana Cisneros (of the Shannon Hair salon in Santa Clarita, Ca.), who explained how she took the reality star from a level 6 brunette to a level 9 and 10 blonde before adding the amethyst highlights.

First, Cisneros used a blonding powder with olaplex to protect Patridge’s hair during processing. Then, she hand-painted her tresses. After that, the colorist toned Patridge’s hair with icy steel toner before a second round of coloring, which would ultimately create the two-toned ‘do.

If you’re thinking of going purple, too, Cisneros warns that you better be ready for a time commitment. “This color is for the dedicated and not for the faint of heart,” she wrote. “It takes 8 hours in the salon, along with home care and revisiting the salon for upkeep.”
