Makeup masters! The Pokémon Go craze has already transcended the tech and gaming universes. Gamers have found new friends, summer dates and baby names thanks to the iPhone and Android video game app that launched on Tuesday, July 5 and has racked up over 75 million downloads, according to TechCrunch. And now, the beauty world is getting in on the trend. The boldest bloggers and makeup artists are using lipsticks and pencils to turn their mouths into Pokémon characters.

Instead of painting their entire faces, some devoted fans are painting whole characters over their lips and chins. YouTube vlogger Lex, who goes by madeyewlook, demonstrated just how it’s done in a July 11 video. The licensed aesthetician and makeup artist, who has more than 2 million subscribers on her channel, suggests sticking your tongue out to get a better grasp of placement. Special effects makeup artist Hind Imazzi gets in on the trend.

Pokébeauty isn’t necessarily a new concept. A simple search of “#pokemonnails” on Instagram shows the most elaborate manicures decked out with red, white and black Pokeballs and the faces of our favorite characters. Bloggers, vloggers, artists and fans also take inspiration from the pelts and shells of the characters that are based on real animals.

Makeup artist Taren Terrell-Castello used Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks and a NYX liquid liner to create her Pokeball lip art.
