While you were struggling to find a #heatdome-proof hairstyle this past week, Duchess Kate pulled off three different styles at one event on Sunday, July 24. She and husband Prince William spent their day at the America’s Cup headquarters in Portsmouth, England, cheering on Sir Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR team as it competed on the Solent in the America’s Cup World Series.

Duchess Kate began the event with her long brunette tresses hanging loose and softly curled at the ends. The mom to Charlotte and George wore Monsoon Fleur Espadrille Wedges along with black skinny jeans, A customized racing shirt and Kiki McDonough Lauren yellow-gold pavé diamond leaf earrings to visit the home’s crew base and meet a group of children who had been out racing with the team.

After their meet and greet, the royal couple was given a tour of the headquarters’ boat shed, where they saw the team’s test boats. Before they boarded a small boat to watch the six teams race, Duchess Kate fashioned her locks in a stylish half-up, half-down ‘do to combat the wind. She pinned two sections back with tiny clips and let the rest of her long hair hang loose.

Finally, she tied her hair into a high, voluminous ponytail to present a trophy to Ainslie for winning the Portsmouth leg of the America’s Cup World Series. She also changed into a pair of black trainers with aqua laces.

Though the day was all about the sailors, Duchess Kate and Prince William still had their children on their mind. A source tells Us Weekly that they met 10-year-old Zak Kay from St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Portsmouth, who won a competition to design the trophy for the Portsmouth ACWS event. When Kay asked what George had received for his birthday on Friday, William said, “I am not telling, he got too many things, he’s far too spoilt, he’s not into boats yet.”
