This country sweetheart is Broadway-bound!
For her debut role on Broadway as Roxie Hart in Chicago, Jennifer Nettles had to switch up her usually sweet, wholesome style. Gone are the sun-kissed highlights, feminine frocks, and glossy nude lips. Hello leg-baring minidresses, high-heels, and smoky eye makeup.
In behind-the-scenes photos released on Dec. 10, Nettles channeled the Cook County Jail newbie in a scandalous skintight minidress with a plunging neckline, black nylons, and sexy pumps.
The Sugarland lead wore makeup just as drastic as the wardrobe. Sporting bouncy side-swept curls, Nettles rocked a deep purple lip and a dark smoky eye.
“It’s fun, it’s lighthearted — a little lighthearted ditty about murder!” she said in an interview with NBC’s Today on Tuesday, Dec. 9, via CMT News. “It’s very fun and the dancing, to get to learn all of that. I can’t wait.”
Nettles will appear in the role for a limited eight-week engagement starting Monday, Feb. 2 through Sunday, March 29, at the Ambassador Theater in New York City.
