How to Fake a Fuller Lash Line

Look alive! For the premiere of Long Days Journey Into Night in New York City on Wednesday, April 27, Jessica Chastain’s makeup artist Matin Maulawizada created a clean and dewy look. He told Us Weekly that The Martian star’s beauty was focused on the skin, but the eyes definitely had it too.

Maulawizada, who’s worked with Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, prepped 39-year-old Chastain’s face, neck and décolleté with Baszicare Alitus Biotic Plumping Serum ($370, baszicare.com) and her eyes with the line’s Artius Eye Vital Supreme ($320, baszicare.com).

For an even, luminous foundation, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Primer and Willa Perfecting Skin Tint in Linen ($22, willa.com) before adding blush on the apples of her cheeks.

Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner in Noir ($25, lauramercier.com), Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara ($27.50, dior.com)

But the real mastery came when the pro defined Chastain’s baby blues. “To create a full lash line without looking like the eyes are lined,” he used a flat brush to push Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner in Noir (left) between her lashes. He covered her lid with the soft cream shadow from Viseart, and accented with a soft gray. He finished by adding even more drama with Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara (right).
