Looking fantastic! Kate Mara debuted bright blonde locks on Friday, August 5, following in the footsteps of celebs like Karlie Kloss and Emma Stone, who changed their manes for the summer.

The Fantastic Four star, 33, paid a visit to the Mare Salon in Los Angeles, where Mara Roszak laid hands on the former brunette’s hair, which hangs right past her ears. She emerged from the salon in a short-sleeve chambray shirt, baggy black pants, black and white Nike Classic Cortez sneakers and a red and white Miu Miu handbag.

Mara, who’s dating actor Jamie Bell, is a fan of summer transformations. Last June, she debuted a tousled pixie haircut at the Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future 2015 event. Though the style suited her delicate features, she revealed that everyone wasn’t a fan.

“I got a lot of nice [comments about the cut, but] I got one sort of negative thing said to me,” she said during an appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael last August. “I text-messaged my dad the other day saying ‘I miss you,’ and his response was ‘I miss your hair.’ So thanks, Dad!”

But she didn’t mind the criticism because of one perk: “I don’t have to wash it now. I don’t have to brush it,” Kate, who’s the older sister of Rooney Mara, said. “I love it.”

Before her dye job, the House of Cards actress was growing out her short cut and tried on a few styles in between … including an unflattering wig for Fantastic Four. “Yeah, I’ve been told,” she told Vulture of the long blonde piece in a September 2015 interview. “Like, how did the wig not match? Yeah. That’s a great question. I wish I had the answer.”
