Taking finger lickin’ to a whole other level. KFC will get into the beauty game with edible nail polish inspired by their signature flavors. Marketing agency Ogilvy & Mather partnered with McCormick & Company, the flavoring giants who crafted the chicken chain’s 11 herbs and spices, to create tastes that mimic KFC’s Original and Hot & Spicy recipes.
“To use, consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick—again and again and again,” KFC explained to Adweek in a statement.
At first glance, the varnishes look like anything you’d see at your local nail salon. Instead of a golden brown, Original Recipe takes on more of a nude shade with a hint of sparkle. And yes, Hot & Spicy is a fiery orange-red hue. In terms of the finish, Ogilvy creative director John Koay explained that the polish is intended to dry with a glossy finish despite its purpose to provide flavor. The square glass bottles with black caps are etched with the company’s tagline, “It’s Finger Lickin Good,” on the back.
Sadly, the varnishes will only be available in Hong Kong for now — but Americans can check out the music video that doubles as a campaign for fans to choose their favorite flavor!
