The root of the problem!
Kim Kardashian and her platinum tresses jetted home to the United States on Thursday, March 12, but some of her brunette roots came back with her.
Following endless appearances at Paris Fashion Week, Kardashian, 34, was spotted at LAX Airport with her bright blonde ‘do parted down the center, making it all the more obvious that her natural dark brunette locks were fighting to peek through. And after less than a week since she had a touch-up in France!
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star first debuted her “blonde-on-blonde color journey” (courtesy of celeb colorist Lorri Goddard) en route to the Balmain fashion show on Thursday, March 5. “Since [hairstylist] Gregory Russell did that great bob for her, which is such a fresh, cool look, it was the perfect time for her to go on a color adventure,” Goddard told Us Weekly.
Two days later, the mom to North West, 20 months, decided to go even bolder, brightening her platinum head to an almost-white hue with the help of the L’Atelier salon.
While touching up your brunette roots isn’t quite as damaging as the initial bleaching, the process is still aggressive on locks. “This is a high-maintenance hair color,” Nicole Tresch, colorist at the Rita Hazan salon in NYC, told Us. “The difference [with touch-ups] is that color is being applied to virgin hair, which is much stronger than bleached hair. But as long as there’s no overlapping with the dye, it’s not as bad.”
Although a brunette-gone-platinum will see roots in about 10 to 12 days, a return trip to the salon isn’t a must-do for another week. “I recommend not coming in until there’s about three weeks worth of growth,” Tresch said. “That way, when I apply the lightener, there won’t be any potentially damaging re-bleaching.”
