Peace out, Lady Rose! Leaving Downton Abbey‘s ever-proper styles behind, Lily James chose a lingerie-inspired dress with an equally steamy beauty look for the L.A. premiere of her new film, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, on Thursday, January 21.
The Cinderella actress, 26, stunned sporting tousled curls, blushed cheeks and a bold, blood-orange lip, and her glam squad gave Us Weekly all the details!

“Lily loved the Alexander McQueen dress she wore last night. She was going to wear it to the Golden Globes, but ended up going with a Marchesa,” James’ makeup artist, Jenn Streicher, tells Us. “So [since] she’s been saving this dress for a while, we’ve been discussing it and coming up with ideas the whole time.”
Wanting to give the classic dress a youthful flair, Streicher chose Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in 1975 Red. “It beautifully brought out the red floral appliqué on her dress,” the makeup artist, who also works with Jaime King and Elisabeth Moss, says.
Streicher wrapped up James’ beauty look with the Votre Vu Eye Shadow Quad Palette Play in Copper, which she used to create a bronze eye, and Votre Vu Vu-On Rouge in Bouquet Rose for a romantic flush.

Inspired by James’ eye-popping pout, hairstylist Ashley Streicher (Jenn’s sister) knew just what to do with the actress’ hair. “Since she was wearing a bold lip, I thought a side part would be soft and pretty,” Ashley tells Us. Because of the dress’ simple top, she opted to leave James’ hair down with “some chic texture.”
And the key product she used to give James’ tresses that extra bounce? Leonor Greyl Voluforme, which both added definition and held the War & Peace actress’ curls in place.
