Breakover hair? Please! Miranda Lambert debuted a pink-dipped style at the 49th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Nashville, Tenn. And while the edgy new color has drawn comparisons to another blonde beauty (ahem), Lambert’s hairstylist, Johnny Lavoy, tells Us Weekly that it all comes down to the “Platinum” singer’s passion for the hue.
“It’s no secret that Miranda’s favorite color is pink,” Lavoy, who’s been working with Lambert for almost four years, exclusively tells Us. “She owns a store named the Pink Pistol, and her tour was named Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars.”
After the “Little Red Wagon” singer rocked a few pastel streaks for her guest appearance at Taylor Swift‘s Greensboro, N.C., concert last month, Lavoy thought it was high time for something “fun and different” for this year’s ceremony.
He pitched the idea of bubblegum ends to Lambert, and no surprise — she was down to try them. “Because of the risk involved, I thought the smartest plan would be to make some clip-in extensions,” the PRO Beauty Tools Celebrity Hairstylist tells Us. “I used light blonde Lox extensions, then painted on soft pink Joico semi-permanent hair color in an ombre style. The end result was soft but edgy, and chic.”
Most notably, the hairstylist added, “This was the first time Miranda played with a bold color, and she loved it, so I don’t think it will be the last!”
