In a word, flawless! Olivia Munn hit the red carpet at the ESPYs 2016 Wednesday, July 13, in L.A., working the most voluminous, textured beach waves. Read on for details on how to re-create the style!

“This look is gritty yet effortless — [it’s] all about texture,” celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton told Us Weekly. “Her dress was a beautiful, white [Antonio Berardi] gown, and we wanted to do a look that complemented it.”

Appleton noted that Munn, 36, who attended the event with NFL boyfriend Aaron Rodgers, has “very soft” hair, so he needed just the right combo of products to give it as textured a look as possible. He started by spraying Matrix Style Link Mineral Rough Me Up Salt Infused Spray on her wet hair. “This product keeps the hair in place but leaves it looking undone, which is just what we were looking for,” he explained.

The L.A.-based stylist, who also works with Christina Aguilera and Shay Mitchell, then blow-dried Munn’s hair, making sure to keep the roots voluminous. He worked in Matrix Style Link Mineral Airy Builder Mousse before curling her strands. He back-combed her roots, then curled her raven locks section by section, spritzing Matrix Style Link Mineral Playback Dry Shampoo to add even more texture. For a more “natural, effortless” look, Appleton used a 2-inch curler for the roots, then a 3-inch iron for the ends.

To finish, Appleton cocktailed the dry shampoo with Matrix Style Link Mineral Booster in his palms, then ran his hands through Munn’s hair for one last boost of texture.
