She doesn’t care for long hair. Sarah Hyland, who cut her dark blonde hair into a chin-length bob in July, revealed that she isn’t too crazy about making her hair look lengthier with extensions.
“I can’t stand clip-ins. So uncomfortable,” the actress tells Us Weekly.
She had to wear faux purple for XOXO, a Netflix original film out Friday, August 26, and unfortunately, the vibrant look was achieved with the devices. Fortunately, there was an upside to it all.
“I liked the purple! I kinda wish my whole head of hair was purple,” she says, noting an enviable feature of her character, Krystal. “She also has three buns in the back that were yellow, red and … another color. I wanna say purple. Never saw them! They were at the back of my head.”
Clip-ins weren’t the only temporary look she tried out for the film. “For the last 30 to 40 minutes of the movie I’m wearing a wig,” the Modern Family star revealed. “We had to do pick-ups at a festival, and my hair was already long and dark for Dirty Dancing. Abraham made the most amazing wig.”
Hyland describes Krystal as an 18-year-old girl who thinks she’s going to meet the guy she’s been talking to online, and happens to be in love with, at the XOXO music festival. As Krystal, the actress gets to wear some pretty showstopping looks throughout the movie.
“It was so funny. The first outfit you see Krystal wearing was just so much,” Hyland reflects. “Platform sneakers that were like a foot tall. Insane. But she ends up wearing this great two-piece that they designed specially for this film using Marc Jacobs fabric.”
