The darker, the badder, the better! Sarah Michelle Gellar debuted brunette hair on Friday, March 4, ahead of the Cruel Intentions TV reboot.

As fans of the original 1999 film know, Gellar’s Machiavellian character, Kathryn Merteuil, rocked similar raven tresses. So while the usually blonde mom of two did not specify the inspiration behind her hair makeover, it’s most surely for the series.

Also exciting: The day after the hair color reveal, Gellar, who’s been married to Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002, shared a snap of the script for the show’s pilot episode. She captioned the shot, “How I am spending the 17 anniversary of the release of #cruelintentions #Crueltv.”
