This Is Why You Keep Seeing Kim Kardashian in a Topknot

Look familiar? Kim Kardashian hosted a party for Revolve in the Hamptons in New York on Saturday, July 16, in a hairstyle that’s become almost as familiar as her bodycon dresses. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 36, swept her dark brown locks into an artfully messy topknot with wisps of hair framing her face.

The flattering ’do topped off Kardashian’s sexy Trois x Revolve Campbell Dress ($215, revolve.com), which put her nearly 70-pound post-baby weight loss on display. The mom of two, who welcomed Saint West in December 2015, completed her curve-hugging style with statement-making denim over-the-knee boots by Yeezy, naturally.

If the hairstyle gives you déjà vu, that’s because Kardashian wore it throughout her Iceland trip, which is featured on recent episodes of KUWTK. While live-tweeting the show on Sunday, July 17, Kardashian revealed just why it’s one of her go-tos. Answering a fan who asked if she’ll continue to wear the updo, the Selfish author wrote, “Yes this is my no extensions vibe lol.”

Similar to her sister Khloé Kardashian, who is known for wearing her hair in a short “fashion lob” one day and waist-length tresses the next, the Kimoji creator likes to play with her extensions. When Kim’s hair is longer, she wears it down in textured waves or pulled back into sleek ponytails. When it’s shorter, she reverts to sweeping it up into everyone’s favorite lazy-day hairstyle.

With her hair-motivation tweeted to her 47 million followers, Kim was then able to focus her 140-character messages on the Taylor Swift drama featured on the July 17 episode. “Kanye, every time he’s recording an album, he always has videographers with him 24/7,” she said to KUWTK cameras. “The camera crew filmed [her approval of the lyrics].”

To prove her point, Kardashian released the footage via Snapchat that same day — and sparked the now-trending hashtag #kimexposetaylorparty. “For all my Southside n—as that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex,” West can be heard telling Swift while discussing the track. Swift then tells the rapper, “I’m like this close to overexposure,” before agreeing that the lyric is “like a compliment.” (The full lyric in the song off West’s album The Life of Pablo reads “I feel like me and Taylor still might have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”)

“What I give a f–k about is just you as a person and as a friend,” West tells Swift, before she tells him to “go with whatever line…[you think is] better…I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice. Even asking or seeing if I’d be OK with it. I just really appreciate it. I would never have expected you to tell me about one of the lines in your song.”

After Kardashian’s Snapchat story went viral, the “New Romantics” singer posted an Instagram Monday, claiming that she wasn’t informed that she would be referred to as “that bitch” in the song. “Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination,” Swift concluded in her statement. “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”
