Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Pre-Split: Pete Is "My Best Friend in the World"

Bittersweet memories of the way they were.
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz weren't stingy with public declarations of affection shortly before their shocking Wednesday divorce announcement.

Wentz sounded extremely wistful about his wife and their son Bronx this past Monday, just two days before their divorce was announced. He Tweeted: "Don't forget to notice--when I look into the lil dude's eyes and smile, the way he loves. I realize [Ashlee] is a good [mama] and so much more."
Ashlee's last Tweet to her man was Jan. 19. "I already miss your handsome face!" she wrote.
The couple married in May 2008, when Ashlee was about three months pregnant with son Bronx, now 2.

In the December issue of Women's Health mag, Ashlee, 26, detailed how Fall Out Boy rocker Wentz, 31, won her heart in late 2006.
"He worked hard to get me, let me tell ya," the singer and actress said. "But I'm glad he did, because there were moments when we had become such good friends and I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm in love with you!'"
"He's my best friend in the world, and he's an amazing dad," Ashlee cooed.

"[Being married] made me able to share more. Now Pete and Bronx come first. It has humbled me." Pete was also a good partner as Ashlee struggled with her body image during and after her pregnancy. "Pete isn't worried about stretch marks," she said. "He always makes me feel sexy."

Well at least no one is blaming Daddy Simpson for this fiasco, at least not yet. Time will tell if he had any say in the matter.

They need counseling from Dr Laura on how NOT to split up when a baby is involved.
I crack up when people act as if they really knew them and really wish them nothing but the best...besides non talented, they're probably the two biggest A$$holes!!...well said Elizabeth, I agree...
It's not unusual when you hear the D word, people tend to outgrow each other. We are all on a journey and people are put in our lives for a reason. This is what they call the Bootcamp of life. It's a learning process and from the experience you may not understand now but when you tap into your being of light, when one door closes another will open. Much Luv hugs :)
To bad they aren't going to try and make it through the lows in their marriage. It's way to easy to get divorced these days. The marriages that usually work are the one's where you can be best friends. Sparks come and go and usually when they go it doesn't last long and you end up loving each other that much more. I wish them all good luck and happiness.
I was pulling for these two, hopefully they can work things out.
Elizabeth is OBVIOUSLY jealous! He owns a record company and a bar and a clothing line! Pete is loaded FYI! And have you ever seen those xxx pics of him! And even without those hes still pretty effing hott!! And i love Ashlee's new look! Im kinda upset over this split! And they both seem to really love each other. I see a reconciliation coming!
God, they are two of the most unattractive people I've ever laid eyes on - they barely look human. And where is their relevance, anyway? Why does US think people are interesting in two people who have achieved nothing? She's a bad lip-syncher and what the hell is Fall Out Boy anyway?
