Avril Lavigne Works With Ex "All the Time"

Avril Lavigne isn't letting divorce get in the way of her relationship with ex Deryck Whibley.
"He's one of my best friends, and we work really well together and we stay in touch," the singer, 25, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show Tuesday. "I think we're very lucky. We've been friends for a really long time and we always will be family. We have a connection. Things are good. I'm really grateful for that."

Lavigne, who is a guest judge on this season's American Idol, adds that they "still work together all the time," even though she filed for divorce from the Sum 41 rocker in October after three years of marriage.

She even enlisted Whibley to help with her new album, Pink Crust.
"Deryck has done a lot of production on this album and mixing," she says, adding that he even helped on the song she was asked to write for Tim Burton's upcoming Disney film, Alice in Wonderland.

She admits that Deryck and their relationship were the inspirations for most of her songs.
"I’ve been writing this album for awhile now," she said. "A lot of the songs are really personal to me and honest."

21I totally agree with Amanda.... she really was the WORST guess judge that has EVER been on American Idol. I do not see what she has to bring to the show at all... I have watch American Idol since Season 1 and it is obviously going straight downhill after loosing Paula, now Simon is leaving and they are having Avril as a guest judge. Won't be surprised if there aren't many more seasons to come.

US, get your facts straight. I heard that interview live yesterday and Avril said that it was her idea to write the song for the move. She approached them, she wasn't asked to write the song.

OMG!, I totally agree with you on your AI comments. Avril seemed so out of her element. I wouldn't ask her to judge toilet paper. It's SO clear she has NO idea what true talent is, considering she has none of her own. Her views were very closed-minded when judging, especially with the pastor. I think she said "no" because he was a pastor. True talent sees the beauty of all genres of music, just not her messed-up crappy fake punk rock/emo little world. She's a poser with absolutely no class and she's extremely immature. How old is she? 25 or so? She needs to grow up, and while she's at it, maybe she should get rid of a few of those extra teeth and try dressing like a grown-up.

Morons, she married him because she loved him. Why is that so hard to understand? I doubt all of you and your boyfriends/husbands are supermodels. That said, she looks like she could use a sandwich.
Reading this as I am seeing AI. Avril is judging and is the worst guest judge of all. She should be eliminated for harassing people about having kids and not judging on sheer talent. Let's have judges that are mature enough not to twist their hair like a little girl!
