Looks like Bristol Palin's war with Kathy Griffin has some legs. Hosting the VH1 Divas Salute the Troops show (which aired Sunday), Griffin, 50, made a controversial crack about the Dancing with the Stars' contestant's weight.

But the joke fell flat -- greeted by boos, not laughs, from the servicemen and women watching Griffin.
Bristol fired back at Griffin, telling FoxNews: "the decent people I know would probably have booed her, too. I hope people didn't have to pay money to hear her negativity and criticisms."

The jibe also sparked a fiercely contested, 15-minute debate on Tuesday's The View.

39The bottom line is that she's just not funny, I'm always up for a "funny" dig, or a realistic one. She (Kathy) looks like someone poked a stick through the skin in the back of her head and twisted it, urrgh, talk about U.G.L.Y, she's so ugly that when she visits the zoo all the animals refuse to come out. She so old and haggard that the last time the cops pulled her over and asked her for her I.D she gave them a picture of Jesus, the time before that it was a bag of dirt. Another thing is why do people shy away from speaking the truth when it comes to "Kathy Griffin"?, or should I say "Andy Dick". That's right bro we know who you really are, make up, a dress and your fake cleavage are fooling anyone. You see, funny and cruel.
Lately Kathy Griffin, has gone to far, and now I know why she on the B- list, she get her jokes from the bottom of the barrel & never, mind you, never be able to walk with the likes of Red Buttons, Jack Benny & George Burns now that class, Kathy Griffin, her class is all in her A**. Again she a wanna be!!!! & never will be!!!
Griffin is NOT funny....those aren't jokes, it is just poking fun at people in a cruel way....And, why does she have to YELL everything she says? I find her to be boring...

Kathy Griffin is known all over the world for saying exactly what she thinks, and people love to hate her. Bristol is a beautiful young woman, who by the way, has withstood much worse than somebody's fat jokes. Put on your "Big Girl" panties Bristol. Life is hard to take sometimes. Just one more thing, you have your mother to thank for your life being comedic material kid.
If Kathy Griffin is as funny as she thinks she is, she should be able to think up jokes that aren't cruel.
It is time that people stopped focusing on people's weight to such an extent -- especially the weight of women. We have such a narrow view of what is acceptable that now if a star loses only a couple of pounds they look anorexic. There are so many things that are not considered appropriate to joke about anymore (rightfully so): race, gender etc. Weight should be one of these things. Too many people are becoming sick trying to look like these stars.
The funny thing is that people get deranged about Bristol Palin for being on DWTS, yet not about the millions of unwed mothers who go into the welfare office every month after popping out multiple kids who live off of our tax money. Barack Obama's mother was also an unwed teen mother and his father was married to another woman at the time. Leave Bristol alone, this is ridiculous.
Kathy Griffin is such a skank. Bristol is a naturally beautiful girl-unlike Kathy who has had multiple plastic surgery procedures and still looks like a horse.
Not a huge fan of Kathy or Bristol, but I must admit when I heard the joke, I did laugh. Of course, if it was about me I wouldn't be laughing. Comedians tell jokes. I'm ok w/ it as long as they don't go too far, like that nut from Seinfeld.
Kathy Griffin is obnoxious. She has had more plastic surgeries then Heidi Montag and still looks like a dog.
I lose sleep at night wondering what Bristol Palin must be eating.
Oh, and Ms Smith. We got a freekin clue. Glamorizing an unwed mother who is going to marry then not then yes. Then on to dancing with the stars, The operative word is stars and she is not, so her mother can get some non-Fox air time, is plain demonic. We may or may not be liberals, but we certainly have better taste then the Palin family, and a lot greater morals.
I am sorry. She did gain weight. Everyone else looses and gets into great shape and she gained enough that we thought she was prego's again.
I don't like Bristol or her mother at all but why mock someone for their appearance when there are so many other things one could poke fun at.
Kathy is so funnnnny! I love her, have seen her live 5 times and people just need to learn to take a JOKE. Fox News....of course the Palin's talked to them.
