Carrie Underwood was the topic of discussion when her Ottawa Senators hockey player beau Mike Fisher visited a Canadian children's hospital earlier this month.

In fact, 11-year-old patient Tyler Huneault, was one of the first people Fisher opened up to about his wife-to-be.

During a recent visit to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Fisher, 29, spent time with his new friend Huneault, who is battling the rare genetic disease Sialidosis and awaiting a kidney transplant.

Rather than talk about Fisher's hockey background, the boy was keen on learning more about Fisher's fiancee, 26, a source tells UsMagazine.com.

"Tyler flat out asked Mike, 'Are you [together with] a girl from American Idol?' and Mike fessed up," the insider says. "They talked about Carrie's dog, and if Mike even likes country music. They went on to chat about if she had been to Ottawa yet, if he ever watched her on American Idol."

Fisher says he's glad to have made the young fan's day a little brighter.

"The first time I met Tyler, I saw a kid with such a great heart and a awesome attitude," Fisher tells Us of Huneault, who suffers from the inherited neurodegenerative disorder. "He's been through so much but remains positive and people are immediately drawn to him, he's such an amazing young kid! I had such a great time seeing him in the hospital, it was a tough time for him but he still managed to tell some stories and have a few laughs, he made my day," Fisher says.
