The Snow White and the Huntsman star, 41, is playing Marlo, a tired mother of three whose brother gifts her a nanny to help out during a difficult time. In the photos, Theron ditched her usual fashion-forward attire for a casual T-shirt, plaid flannel and loose jeans.

It’s unclear if she put on a few pounds for the role or if she used the magic of makeup and a body suit to make the dramatic transformation. Just a few days earlier, she donned a fake baby bump on set while filming an outdoor scene.

This isn’t the first time that Theron has seriously switched up her look for a movie role. The South African stunner gained 30 pounds and wore a prosthetic nose for her role as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2003’s Monster, which won her an Oscar. She also shaved off her blonde locks and buzzed her head to portray Imperator Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

When meaty roles come through, I’ve been in the room, and pretty people get turned away first.”
