So deep! Halle Berry joined Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday, March 29, and shared a topless photo of herself, along with a quote in her bio from Henry David Thoreau.
“Hi everyone,” Berry, 49, captioned her first Instagram photo, which showed her topless in a bamboo-filled jungle. “Welcome! Today is a very exciting day for me… I’m looking forward to sharing our world through images that reflect my emotions and perceptions. I am in awe of photography and its ability to capture and reflect this extraordinary world that we live in. I’m excited to share with you my love of nature, the arts, fashion and much more in the hopes that the images will inspire, promote conversation and bring you joy. ❤ Halle.”
The X-Men actress’ bio includes 19th-century philosopher Thoreau’s quote: “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
Berry, who recently vacationed with estranged husband Olivier Martinez and her two kids in Mexico, also tweeted out the photo with a similar caption. “Hi everyone … Today is a very exciting day for me… I’m looking forward to sharing our world through images…” she wrote along with a link to her Instagram account.
The The Call star’s Twitter bio includes the same Thoreau quote.
In honor of her first tweet, the Academy posted a shout-out to Berry — who also joined Pinterest on Tuesday — sharing a GIF of her 2002 Monster’s Ball Oscars acceptance speech.
