Hugh Jackman can officially do it all. The Oscar-nominated actor, who has won Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globes for his impressive acting, singing, and dancing skills, can now add heavyweight champion to his resume. On May 9, the Les Miserables actor proved he’s officially a member of the 1,000 pound club after successfully squatting 355 pounds, benching 235 pounds, and deadlifting 410 pounds — all in one routine.
“Made it into the 1000lb Club!!! 355 Squat. 235 Bench. 410 Deadlift. Between 8a-11a. More to come. #DOGPOUND,” the Wolverine hunk captioned a video of himself being rewarded a “1,000 LB” club T-shirt in a West Village gym in New York City.
As if that wasn’t enough proof of his insane muscles, Jackman also shared actual footage of him deadlifting 410 pounds. “The deadlift that brought me into the 1000lb Club,” he captioned a seriously intense video of him completing the task.
Jackman’s trainer David Kingsbury recently opened up to Bodybuilding.com about working with the seriously buff star.
“He's very motivated and adherent, so he doesn't require a drill sergeant or babysitter," Kingsbury said. "We train together, and I always push the intensity…He mostly worked in the 8-12 rep range [for Wolverine]. I always encourage low, 1-5 rep heavy work to stimulate myofibril hypertrophy. Then after the heavy work is done, we move onto the higher rep schemes…the combination of the two styles brings the best gains.”
